Please explain the difference in S and Y systems

I don't want to cross post on the HA/IoT forum - I'm looking for advice, firstly on what the difference is between an S and Y type system. I'm fairly sure I've got neither, but I probably do have one ?

I've got a Ferolli Tempra 18 boiler, in my opinion, it is the most vanilla setup that could be had. The boiler, controlled by a mains switch, heats the room radiators and hot water cylinder (fed by the attic tank) when it is on, and does nothing when it is off. There are no controllers, programmers or thermostats connected to the system.

I wanted to hook up a tado extension kit to it, but their CS are telling me I've got a "very rare configuration"...? Also, CS are asking if it is an S or Y type system

    Help?
