Suppose I move into a new house with all options available in my area - what's the cheapest way to get access to the most pro14 games? Broadband with Eir? Does that come with Eir sport?

I think €35 a month for Broadband + Home Phone is probably the cheapest way via Eir, as you get the Sports pack included. You'd only be able to stream it via the app though.

€50 a month seems to be the cheapest way to get it via Eir with the TV package.

Via Sky at best it'd be €30 a month for the most basic Sky package and then another €30 a month for the Eir subscription.

RugbyPass is €17 a month, streaming only, then a ticket on (for example) Nord Airlines to Hong Kong is another €10 (although the price goes down on both these if you pay annually). Of course, you also get access via this service to Champions Cup, Premiership, Autumn and Summer Internationals, Six Nations, Super Rugby, Mitre10 Cup and Currie Cup. At the minute it's unclear how many games they will air in later phases of the Pro14 though.

The problem with that is they eventually will force you to turn on your location settings on your phone to show where your real location is. The eurosport player is already doing this. Expect others to follow.

The eir vision deal for broadband + tv for €50 p/m for a 12 month contract is a great deal.

You wouldn't want to be signing onto anything longer as eir could lose the bt channels when they come up for renewal in August 2019.

Nah, they won't bother, especially as you can access it through any browser, doesn't have to be via a mobile app. Besides which, your phone's GPS is a very poor way of determining actual location, as it can be very easily changed.

Interesting for round 2 this Saturday
Connacht at home to zebre is not on eir at 5.15 instead the live match at that time is osp v cheetahs on eir sport 2 while eir sport has a repeat of the munster v Glasgow game from the night before

to watch the Connacht game its premier 2 in other channels - this doesn't make sense

The Eir tv guide is not to be trusted, it will change many times between now and the weekend.

Did anyone watch the Connacht game on Premier Sport? I was watching on Eir and the whole thing was a bit amateur to be honest. Wondering if Premier Sport was any better as I have the option of watching games on their too

Connacht Zebre will only be on tg4 and premier going by the broadcast fixtures. We highlighted this before that eir are not showing all games 'live' whereas premier are showing every game.

When you consider that uk residents are only paying £10 p/m for premier, eir need to up their game.

It also makes rugbypass a better option when you consider the amount of content they have.

I downloaded it but it is looking for log in details straight away even though I haven't signed up. I think I downloaded it before and it said 'not available in your area'.

    It's actually £89.00 for 12 months using a code "Premier89"....£7.42 per month.

Hong Kong is one of the few "accessible" places that rugby pass has the rights for. So you need to buy a "ticket" to "travel" to Hong Kong to use rugby pass to watch it there.

BTW, on a TOTALLY unrelated, discussion of VPNs and how to get around geoblocking is banned on boards.

It's a reflection of the fact that discussion of particular topics is banned here. PM me if you want to know.

Ah, fair enough. I have Eir Sport free anyway as part of the business broadband so no drama.

I could have written this. Really pleasantly surprised with the Eirvision service, the box is much nicer to use than VM's, can't believe I'll be going legit with my sport viewing for the next while! Serious amount of rugby, 3 or 4 English games on every week also!

I think Eir could do a number in Dublin this season, quite a few in my office talking about switching over now also...

Wish I could be one of them but they don't do broadband in my area. So annoying. In Dun Laoghaire like!

Thats the A premiership rebranded. 3 groups of 4 and each club play the teams in their group then 1 more game before the knock out games.

Uk residents pay £10 pm for Premier Sports. Take the Pro14 out and Premier is an absolute bag of shiiiite. Whether it's good value is very, very questionable.

In Ireland, you get the Eir Sports pack which includes BT Sport, so Champions Cup, English rugby and the other sports are available.

Those of us getting Eir sport as part of our broadband are getting a phenomenal deal. People are always going to continue to steal it because that's the way of things.

They will show the Connacht game live, relax.

Not by this they're not. All Leinster and Munster games will be live but it looks like tg4 may be sole broadcaster for some Connacht games. Not a huge issue but I like being able to access the games on my phone.

In Round 4 Ulster's away game against the Cheetahs won't be televised except on premier while Connacht's game is also only on tg4.

Eir are letting down their customers. Why can't we access all games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

I'm going to be optimistic and assume Connacht will be shown live. Replaying a game over a live broadcast when the pitch was all games live would be farcical.

RugbyPass is not actually stealing it, it's legal.

Use the browser. You don't even need an App.
