I heard something like that, but I didn't like that one.

Sure was - love that film.

The Big Lebowski really did not do it for me - but I may revisit.

    Into the Wild.

Never before has a film crawled so far up in its own hole that the camera angle was actually from the viewpoint of the producers ass the entire time.

Star wars = christmas, for people who were kids in the 80s
I was a kid in the 1980s and never saw Star Wars.

When I went to college in the 1990s there was lots of guys wearing t-shirts about Yoda, Dart Vader and such and such.

These nerds all believed Star Wars to be a seminal event in movie history.

At the same time George Lucas was creating his prequel series.

To drum up the hype they re-released the original series in theatres so I got to watch it for the first time in the then Virgin Cinema in Dublin. I was shocked at how completely sh1t it was.

Back when I was a kid in the 1980s Anything Goes used to show the old Buster Crabbe black and white Flash Gordon serials.

Not only is Star Wars nonsense, it completely ripped off Flash Gordon.

I'm not really one for the marvel films anyway, but Black Panther was actually a black hole into which any semblance of craic vanished.

Made the mistake of seeing it in the cinema and I think you could have gathered 20 mins solid footage of me sighing in anguish alone.

Anything by Quentin Tarantino. Usually a blood and gorefest.

The Shape of Water was utter dog sh1t (and I say that as a fan of del Toro). Showered in awards despite it being a boring, cliched pile of manipulative sh1t

Hated Ladybird and Call Me By Your Name too. Just don’t get the hype around these unoriginal overrated stories.

Most of the stuff the vile Meryl Streep appears in turns my stomach yet she is so loved by many. Ruins good stuff like The Deer Hunter and Doubt for me.

American Beauty must be the most overrated film of all time. Boring rubbish.

Hate stuff like Chicago and Moulin Rouge. Cannot understand their appeal. Cringeworthy drivel.

I was a kid in the 80s and have no idea what you’re talking about.

I do remember Star Wars being shown on TV every Xmas, and Star Wars figures being hugely popular toys - that you might get for Xmas.

Don’t think anyone thinks they were seminal movie events. Think they remind people of happy things in their childhood.

Agree with all of that except moulin rouge. Musicals are not for everyone but it was enjoyable enough. Chicago was a crap musical though. La la land was good.

Bridesmaids which is the most boring whore of a film ever.

The “look, women are funny too!” marketing was tedious but I liked the film anyway because

    a) it ripped the piss beautifully out of the OTT wedding industry

    b) it’s actually a very good study of somebody who is depressed and down on their luck

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Not saying they're bad movies, they're visually spectacular, but I found them boring. Actually fell asleep in the cinema during two of them.

    Blue is the warmest colour.

Any hipster worth their salt say this is brilliant. Its at least an hour longer than it needs to be. Some scenes serve almost no purpose other than to convey the passage of time. Snoozefest.

Black panther - long over due some black leads / super heros but it was a very average super hero movie

On a similar note, Crazy Rich Asians is a pretty bland romcom. Yes it’s great that a mainstream Hollywood movie has a lot of asian actors in it but that alone shouldn’t make it immune to criticism

2001: A Space Odyssey. Just found it boring and I also fell asleep while watching it. It's probably the only time I fell asleep while watching a movie.
