Just switched onto it. Nice to see this type of analysis, it was sorely lacking with the fta broadcasters. Nice picture too.

yep wasn't too bad Martin Williams is very good, Luke is cliche ridden and is hard to listen to0, presenter was good .

Ya Connor Morris seems a good presenter. I have never taken to Luke, comes across as a cocky confident sort but he did add a bit of banter towards the end. Martyn Williams is always excellent to listen to.

I liked the segment on the referees. Also a nice segment where they picked their winners, poty and breakout player. Fitz went for Munster, Jordi Murphy and Caolan Doris while Williams went with Leinster, ? and Blommetjies the SA Scarlets player.

Very promising start. The preview and highlights shows could be a great watch but no way of watching them if you miss them (if on app)

If you have a satellite dish, some of the UK coverage will be on FreeSports.

Since you're a Virgin customer, I'm guessing that doesn't apply.

Interesting.. what are the tunein details?

He’s with Setanta/eir Sport a long time now, since at least 2007,and worked on their Celtic League coverage last time they had it. He’s more associated with their football coverage though, first as a commentator, and he’s been the main anchor since Paul Dempsey left to go to BT in 2013.

Succeeded in connecting with VPN and Premier Sports login to watch the Pro14 show. Good quality though.

    I liked it.

For all the things that should bother me about Luke, I quite like him as a pundit. He doesn't take himself very seriously which I think is a good thing. Sometimes watching pundits its all straight faces and stern answers and it's just dull. Although BT have taken it too far in the other direction. But overall I think he kinda fills that role to take the piss out of himself/ get the piss taken out of him quite well.

Martyn Williams is both insightful and very engaging. He comes across a very decent bloke.

Not sure how I feel about this dual presenter thing they've got going on with Connor and Murray. Presumably Murray is there for the more nitty gritty analysis but obviously there wasn't any footage last night. Will see how it goes in the next few weeks.

I notice Eir has two "Xtra" channels on its app. Could this be how it broadcasts a Pro14 game when three are clashing, as in Friday?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 755 ✭✭✭stock>

Freesport on Sky digital the settings are
    11426, V, 27.5 4/5 DVB-S, QPSK.

Services, options, add channel, put in the above details and follow on screen prompts.

Possible but I doubt it as people paying for the eir package on satellite couldn't get it as only 2 satellite slots are available.
Streaming does offer a lot more options from that point of view as the broadcaster isn't limited by satellite slots.

So, the day before the start of the Pro14 and they still have not released any details of broadcasting rights for Europe. It seems like such an important detail if they wish to spread teh game.

    TG4 coverage announced

    https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/pro14/the-pro14-s-one-constant-is-back-on-board-for-three-more-years-1.3612534
In addition to all of Connacht’s 11 home games, this season TG4 will also have live coverage of all the Irish-Welsh games involving Connacht, Leinster and Munster, beginning with the Cardiff-Leinster game tomorrow night and Connacht-Glasgow on Saturday.

In total, they will have 28 live games, including the final. They will also have deferred coverage of a further nine interprovincial derbies, as well as a weekly highlights package.

Delighted with this, seems on few occasions they are also showing 2 live games per round/weekend which is great, previously only one per round was announced.

    Go raibh maith agat!

They're showing 2 games on 7 weekends and 3 games on 1 weekend (R14) , but have no games from Rounds 6, 7 or 11 and they don't seem to half any play off games other than the final. The full list is on the 42.ie http://www.the42.ie/tg4-pro14-fixtures-4207797-Aug2018/

    Full list:

    https://www.tg4.ie/ga/sports/rugbai-beo/

This is great to see, especially games being shown "iarbheo" (deferred) because highlights never really work for rugby. Delighted that TG4 are still involved.

You'd have to say though, this amount of free games devalues the Eir offering somewhat?

on the eir sport website tv guide it now says for Friday at 19.00 on eir sport 2

This is eir sport 2 Programming resumes at 21.45

you kind of wonder whats the thinking behind that? and why not show the other match or is the eir sport tv rights really only going to provide the irish provinces live

Interesting the ospreys v edi came is deferred on eir sport 2 to 21.45

I wonder if you have premiersports tuned in to other channels will it be geo blocked at 7pm tomorrow evening

European rights are with streaaming service DAZN

They did that before when eir Sport 1 and Premier Sports (eir Sport 2) were both showing the same Republic of Ireland game. Idea is to make you watch the Irish adverts on eir Sport 1 instead of U.K. adverts on eir Sport 2. At the time it was controversial because eir Sport 1 wasn’t yet in HD and they stopped doing it eventually. Incidentally the Sky EPG is still showing the Leinster game on both channels.

For those ROI football games, Premier Sports just took the eir Sport coverage, so the only difference was adverts. This time it’ll be seperate programmes on eir Sport 1 and Premier Sports. The same thing will probably happen for the Connacht game. But expect to see the Premier Sports NI crew on Saturday for the Ulster game while the eir Sport crew cover Munster.

I'm currently living in Germany and although it's stated on the Pro 14 website DAZN don't seem to be showing the Pro 14 or European rugby this year. I emailed them and there response was "Sorry, we don't know". DISASTER!!!!!

I actually think they are only showing it in Italy. The pro 14 only sorted the rights in Europe for the pro14 countries.

It's just disappointing after last season when DAZN had Pro 14 and European rugby, especially when the coverage at home is the best it's ever been!

I know. I got all the pro14 and champions cup on Eurosport last season in Holland. Very disappointed this season.
