GPU Upgrade?

I'm basically wondering if now would be a bad time to buy an Nvidia 1080 GPU? specifically this one:

The price seems reasonable to me, but I wonder could they drop dramatically in the next month or two? I was thinking of the new cards, but even an RTX 2070 seems like an awful lot of money and I'm not interested in the new ray tracing feature just yet.

The Zotac AMP is known for bad thermals.

From what I read the 2070 will outperform 1080 so I would expect a price drop coming October, given that the expected price of the 2070 will be around 500.

I would also not be so optimistic as to think we'll get them for €500 either. We were supposed to get the 1070 for €349 and look how that turned out.

Thanks! The bundle with a PSU looks very nice. What though is the difference between the FTW & FTW2? I like the idea of the step-up program as well. I could get my 1080 now and not lose out on the possibility of getting a 2070 later.

Just did some googling and the FTW2 seems to have much better cooling and had a memory speed upgrade. I suppose that's probably worth the few euro extra.
