It's not proven. The haters were out in force here this morning saying stuff like 'how do you feel about last night's revelations?'. Same people who would be saying innocent until proven guilty in civil cases.
Not proven is not the same as unfounded. Frank has already demonstrated he is not as open as he has claimed.
Just popped in here today and it's remarkable how hate filled and negative these threads are.

Considering what has happened to 1000's of people in this country at the hands of the church you're surprised?
Why 3 threads to catholic bash? Boards has a lot to answer for. It has descended into farce this year with one sided moderation.

One sided moderation, that's your own bias.
I only usually use it for my interests in meteorology, who are a really genuine sound bunch of posters where all are welcome.

    Irrelevant tbh
Aetheist, agnostic, spiritual, New Age, Hindu, Christian, everyone should be allowed make their points in an atmosphere of fair play.
    They are.
Boards has turned into a populist echo chamber. They're are some excellent moderators but way too many that the title seems to have gone to their heads and who lack intelligence, common sense and fair play and can't control their bias.

Your opinion which is as valid as anyone elses even if they disagree with you.
Some posters are let away with everything. It's obvious to most neutrals and why many stay away from political and social threads here.

Several were banned yesterday, their posts were absolutely vile and oddly they supported the church a d the present visit .

    Last post here.

It's really pathetic that a cohort of posters spend hours, days, weeks of their lives Catholic bashing, church bashing etc.

What are you going to achieve on here? Absolutely nothing. This isn't real life...it's nothing.

Really people need to assess why are they wasting their lives away. It can't be good for your mental health. It must be terrible for physical health spending so much screen time, possibly getting overweight through lack of exercise, bad posture, back pain. A very unhealthy lifestyle. It's imperative to engage with the real world.

I'm off for a run. Take care folks. Enjoy the papal visit. It's a once in a lifetime.

Er, nope, twice in a lifetime for many people!

My atheist husband is at the gym right now, by the way. It’s almost as if there is no link between healthy-living and religiosity. Fancy that?

Before i leave the Belfast Rape trial received serious moderation, no one was allowed to assume anything before the trial. Major ban on any discussion.

Compare and contrast with an allegation of abuse from the US about clerical abuse. Have we the same mods saying 'wait now lads, you can't say Francis knew of this or it happened, nothing has been proven'.

The 'Belfast Rape Trial' was a trendy modern day 'event' mods were tripping over themselves about.

The Catholic Church...say what you like, whether proven or unproven.

    Totally agree with this statement.
If it was an allegation of child sex abuse, proven or not, it would be more than enough to remove the person from contact with children till proven unfounded.

Just because it's not proven doesn't mean it should be ignored

A senior bishop in the States has made an allegation.

I can prove that if you wish.

Child rape , abuse. Children sold, women treated as slaves in the laundry. All proven. Your previous posts were well thought out, this one not so much. Go for your run.

That's great, but you're not really making any point. I never said anything bad about aetheists.

He called the survivors of abuse liars in Chile despite having the evidence to back up their claims.

You obviously never watched Fr. Ted too closely. Fr. Dick Byrne was a rival priest. Bishop Brennan had no rival.

Your post is a prime example of what happens here. A fella tries to be flippant and funny and makes a balls of it.

Very few of my posts in this forum are flippant. Sometimes a little humour is the only way to deal with the thought that a man, who's organisation persecuted & abused tens of thousands of children, is here in Ireland & not in jail.

    His Holiness

He has form, so many will accept the revelation as fact due to Frank's previous history.

It was spoken off as more than an allegation on here this morning, truth it was said! Compare and contrast with pre the Belfast trial. Say anything about Belfast trial...you'll be banned. Say anything about the catholic church. Proven or not. Fine, no probs.

Enjoy your run Francie. Good to hear you're keeping fit.

We live across from the gym in our apartment complex. I’m looking at him right now. ;) Any other questions? :)

Belfast is in Ireland. Belfast is in the EU. Irish & EU laws Govern how boards.ie moderate some issues.

You do realise that the US is a different continent? Separate laws to the EU?

There is no law stopping us taking about what goes on in the US

Yeah, just joining you in making fatuous remarks to see what it’s like. It’s fun! I thought you were exercising currently? ;) If you’re running and able to reply on boards simultaneously, you might want to ratchet up the exercise intensity a smidge. Otherwise it’s useless and you might as take a leisurely stroll to feed the duckies.

Where was it referred to as the 'truth'?

Not by anymore than one or two posters.

There have been a lot of bans on here on this thread.

Just because people won't be conned by religious guff anymore doesn't mean the world is ending.

But you're post wasn't funny. Just incorrect. No rival bishop on Fr. Ted. Not funny, not right. Just silly.

re. the highlighted bit, get real. He wasn't personally responsible and is trying to reform an institution which is badly in need of it and it takes time.

Don't cloak yourself in the misery of others to look for a good man to be put in jail.

He is now for not handing over the files. You couldn't be a high ranking cardinal without knowing an awful lot. He was appointed as a smiley Vatican PR man.

You sound like a Christian Brother marking a child's work

Yes Belfast is in the UK, Ireland and the EU. There is a hint in the name Northern Ireland.

    What has he done?

Over 300 more priests implicated in abuse and that had to be dragged out of them.

Now we have an allegation from a senior churchman that Francis knew and did nothing.

But his hands get washed by nauseating Irish Roman Catholics whose only reaction is to turn a blind eye.

I understand the faith of my mother who cried when she seen what these men did, but your reaction I cannot understand. You can believe in God and Heaven and still be critical of these men and still look for the truth and justice.
I think you may indeed be going for a run...running away from the inevitable.

Big turnout here in Parnell Square.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.
