Random enough one but I was in a youtube rabbit hole of watching the naughties games, and while watching back the Dubs v Mayo in ‘06 it struck me Conor Mortimor seemed to finish inter county early enough, what happened with that? He’s playing/involved with Parnells in Dublin these days, him and Alan Freeman were 2 very good players that seemed to be suddenly absent from the county scene.

He had a strop just before the Connacht final in 2012 about not being picked to start and that was the last of him.

Oh right, was it his own self exile or did Horan rid him for the attitude?

The club is a member of the LGFA.[/quote]

    Is it?

Rule 8 discussing the LGFA structure makes a distinction between members and clubs.

Rule 115 discussing clubs states a club must have at least 11playing members.

Based on rules 8 and 115 I think it’s clear a club is not a member.

The rule they banned the club under only specifies members - I think it’ll be overturned on the fact the rule simply doesn’t apply to clubs.

It was his own exile, walked out because he wasn't starting and Horan said 'good luck then'.

Andy Moran then picked up a serious injury in the quarter final against Down, Mort would have started the semi final and final but the toys were out of the pram by that stage.

I see thanks for the info I was wondering what happened as he was only a young lad still in college in that ‘06 semi final.

His family then issued a cringe inducing statement on his behalf, which probably scuppered any chances of a reconciliation taking place, when ruffled feathers & hurt feelings were more settled.

I still maintain tat if they had not got involved, there might of been some chance of him coming back even if it was only for 2013

One hundred percent, their intervention was the final nail in the coffin.

My overriding impression was that James Horan thought Conor Mortimer wasn't enough of a team player.

    A bit like Cora then

    A bit like Cora then

Indeed but the only difference is Cora was long tolerated because she's probably the greatest ladies footballer of all time.

Has a ridiculous number of all stars in her pocket, ditto a long list of honours in terms of league and All Ireland titles at club and inter county levels.

TBH I'm saddened the way this whole controversy has played out.

In the long term I don't believe it will besmirch her legacy.

But she simply isn't the player she was and hence her individualism will no longer be tolerated.

A new lineage of young Mayo ladies need to be offered the opportunity to join the Sarah Rowe's,Kelly sisters who are the future of Mayo ladies football.

Mitchels looking untouchable again this year. Would like to see breaffy get a craic at them though!

When I think of Cora or Conor Mort and then I think of a similar situation like McDonald got with JOM, but the path taken by Mac was in the opposite direction. It really says it all tbh and they were not even in McDonald's class.

So they'll be hardly staying in place as the Breaffy management team?

It doesn't. Breaffy didn't look like they had come on under them in last years Championship.

Presume they're gone Selige. Maybe see out this years Championship. Haven't heard tbh.

Shane Conway. Joint manager with Ford at Breaffy. Joint manager of Rice College. Was with Mitchell's before Breaffy.

The rumours the county board weren't forking out for big names is true.

From what I seen today Breaffy haven't a hope of getting next nor near them. Thought they were very poor as we're Ballintubber

    It stinks of penny pinching
Doesn’t exactly send out a message of intent

I know lads who played under Ford (at club & county level) and they rate him very highly.

His intercounty management days are over a decade ago so about as relevant as players who played under Maughan saying they rate him highly

I feel exactly how I feel about Holmes coming back with Connolly
    Completely underwhelmed

They should both have a good knowledge of the club scene though which is obviously a positive

But is this management team the one to put fire in the players bellies over a long Winter and have the tactical nous that has cost us on the big day repeatedly?
    I'll go for no
We could see a few retirements now imo

I think Ford is a good addition. Don't know much about Conway.
