I'm moving from a Business degree to a Business Information Systems Degree, I'll be going into 2nd year so I'm not getting the full intro.

I'm interested in data, how it's used, what it's used for and how to build systems to use it.
In particular for how it's used to tailor marketing online, and just what businesses do with it.

I'm also interested in Fintech, and in developing my own applications..

I moved to BIS because I knew that's where my interests lie.
I know that's much more to do with SQL but I'm useless after that point, I'm just interested and I want to start having a go at it myself.

    Where do I start?

(Apologises if this is in the wrong section)

If you're interested in working with large amounts of data I'd check out Python and R.

For visuals look into Javascript D3.js, Charts.js, Highcharts.js
