Return to base is normal protocol as the facilities to repair are on hand. Worst case is get an aircraft stuck 11 hours down country without support and having to pay a fortune to park up, fly people out to fix etc.

Mike will say its the daa fault they were damaged!

Staff are busy but is inexperience amoung seasonal handlers for jetways the problem. So close together after a relatively reliable summer is strange. Prehaps the wrong A330 should have stayed...

Aren't you going to tell the viewers WHY she was called home?
at this stage normally the ship has leaked like a sieve, nothing on source, nothing on avherald, if we can talk about that amount of airbridge damage, we should be able to find out why EI-LAX had to turn back... given the amount of time she's been AOG ..... oh come on someone spill the beans

I suppose liveatc archives would give us the answer if anyone has a few hours on their hands to go trawling and figure out the frequency for the time/location

From what I've heard/picked up; GCF, LAX and DUZ all suffered jetbridge damage, ELA got an unscheduled engine change the other day due to oil burn issues and stole one of GCF's engines, which now also has to be replaced.

Perhaps QR could loan them another A330 like the one coming in on Friday morning.

Thanks. Doesn't explain how LAX is jet bridge damaged yet despatched and returned from down route. Or perhaps return was for another reason and it got a bash on return?

LAX bash happened a while back but it was Airbus who requested further inspection and further repair to what was done I'm told... That's why they turned back..instead of trying to get it done in LAX

Assume EI will crew given the type?

I was on an AL flight out of Faro yesterday. Departure due 15:10. AL bus passenger from gate to airplane at Faro. At approx 15:00 two passengers boarded, sat beside me in row 8. Turns out they were shopping and didn’t hear the announcements or see the flight on the boards

They also had walking difficulties, so had assistive as well.

We still took off on time, and landed on time despite a queue (weather related according to the pilot) over Dublin.

Sometimes AL are miles better than other airlines, this was one.

Yes Qatar, we needed to test the paint so took it for a quick spin to JFK and back (10 times)

Tongue in cheek comment. No matter, that flight isn't happening anyway.

That’s comical, but true because if uve 3 aircraft damaged in such a short period of time and all due to air bridges it does point to staff multi tasking,no wonder EI are making the turnover figures that they are if they don’t have sufficient man power, buddy of mine works on the ramp in ork and he’s saying Excatly same thing,he said their doing everything from marshalling to cleaning and baggage to pushbacks

Also probably down to how many engineers on the books are bashers... probably very few

EI-LAX left Dublin the other night after the aircraft was signed off to depart by the line engineer. It was only after it took off that they realised it was out of service hours so couldn’t continue on to LAX, thats why it came back, after it landed back in DUB it got a smack of the airbridge, now out til Sunday due to fook all maintenance staff to handle 3 tech 330’s at once.

That's not true about service hours and an engineer signing it off Willy nilly and getting hit with bridge after it landed....I got the spiel today off someone there..it had a repair authorization after a jetbridge hit last week.....Airbus weren't happy with it because of similar damage on another aircraft so they pulled it..the rest about not enough engineers is completely true....

I wouldn't read to much into the late push backs of the AL TA fleet. Most likely CBP delays and waiting for connecting passengers. The latter no doubt delayed on inbounds due to the Dublin Airport infrastructure.
Everyone else is to blame for Aer Lingus Transatlantic delays? :)
