Down to Laragh via Sally Gap to meet up with some friends for coffee, a spin and lunch before heading back to town. Not bad as far as the Gap but then the cloud turned into mist, into drizzle and finally into rain on the decent to Laragh. The stiff SE wind didn't help and the Garmin was showing 9 degrees up top.

Never quite managed to get to the spin stage but the coffee, lunch and company in Ann's Coffee Shop helped me dry out and warm up. Wimped out and accepted the offer of a lift back home.

Lots of notices up advising of road closures on Sunday 19th for the Dun Laoghaire Ironman cycle. Looks like it will affect Stepaside to Enniskerry to Roundwood (via the Old Long Hill) to Sally Gap to the Viewing Point and back to DL via Stepaside. More details at http://m.eu.ironman.com/~/media/f0f3aa8192e040618222bee4b01588dc/ironman%20703%20dun%20laoghaire%20bike%20updated.pdf

its not quite Stepaside, it is going up and down Ballychorus lane. Out via Shankill and back past the Silver Tassie (or whatever it is called now)

went up Kilmashogue today, second time ever, as i started i was remembering the 2 hard sections near the top...i had forgotten the short nasty ramps before the hard bits..

first time was a nasty cold winter spin (i think) on the lighter bike but with harder gearing 36/27

today i took the heavier bike with easier gearing 34/28 ...didn't make too much difference ...didn't have to zigzag ...took a few seconds off the prev time

50km around north county dublin today. 29.5km/h average.

funny thing is that i've the new bike now, and because i want it to be faster, i go out too quick at the start and don't pace myself properly. either that or it was the blustery wind this evening.

Club Midweek spin which always turn into a mad gallop and tonight was no different, all good fun though and starting to find legs again.

    58km at 33 avg.

Brutal wind coming down the Clontarf->Sutton cycle track this morning. Head down and pushing as hard as I could. I could barely keep 25km/h. It's been a while since I've had that kind of a head wind. The cycle home will be fun though!

I have the wind at my back in the morning and it's all downhill too. It's just like rolling out of bed and into work.

Smashed a load of pr's on the way into work too with the wind this moaning. :D

TFW you think to yourself, as you can feel your feet sloshing around in your shoes, 'i wish i'd packed my overshoes this morning', and then realise that yes, you had.
that's the drowndiest i've been in a long while.

and it was meant to be bloody well dry today.

I did 97km today my biggest spin yet, unfortunately I forgot to resume strava after a coffee and I could not do another 3km.

    still have the 100km goal

I went from Waterford IT down the Greenway to Dungarvan, out of Dungarvan towards Youghal about 6km was trying to get to 50km before I went back. I headed back the N25 to Waterford and cursed some of the hills on it!

Felt like i no legs today so cut my hilly spin short.

Big shout out to the nutter who sped past me on Kilgarron hill into Enniskerry. He nearly lost it on the rough patch at the junction and then almost ran into a car that stopped ahead of him on the hill.

I hope the rest of your journey was less exciting.

sweltery out there today. the clouds of flies out portmarnock direction were something else.

was on the new road at the back of the airport to the boot inn, couple of cars coming towards me, which were overtaken by two motorbikes. the second motorcyclist - while in the oncoming lane - decided to overtake while pulling a wheelie, and accelerating very hard. not the sort of thing that's good for the heart rate.

Tagged along with some Gorey cc members this morning, Gorey to Carnew, shillelagh Tinnahely, hollyfort and back to Gorey. Including my spin to and from Gorey 86 km 27 kph AVG and 700 m of climbing, kudos to them for allowing a guest rider.

Trip around the village on 4 wheels with my son and daughter. Stopped and watched the barges at the lock. Nice little circuit. Great to get them out and about. JD.

50km Friday, 80km yesterday then 135km today, I'm ready for a body bag now....

Great to be back on the bike though and with a saddle adjustment it has meant a whole new level of comfort on the bike.

You’re not Deirdre Barlow are ya ?

Today Deirdre Barlow did 7:57 on howth head tt according to strava , and 133k @33 kph in total cycle . Noticed that when I uploaded my spin out there today

That’s seriously hardcore whoever it was
