Finished El Chapo, 3 seasons, good show, very watchable. Sometimes felt like a cheaper budget version of Narcos, but a good watch nonetheless.

Onto The Vietnam War now, its really good.

Think it was recommended a while back in this thread, but Sweet Virginia is a brilliant watch. A real slow burner of a thriller with many fantastic performances throughout.

The Passengers - as for me, it's just boring(
Now I'm going to watch "Loving Vincent" because of good reviews.

    Calibre

It’s genuinely tense and chilling. It’s fairly silly too though, so I’d only be inclined to give it a 6 outta 10.

Best anti hunting propaganda film ever though :pac:

The Workalohics guys are involved in this so I'm sure it's hilarious. Was going to watch last night but ended up catching up on a few episodes of Shooter instead.

That Game Over Man film they did for Netflix was chronically unfunny.

I enjoyed it, nothing amazing, but some silly bits I liked.

The Package was passable... enjoyed it more than Game Over Man which I thought was an awful turd and I'm a fan of Workaholics.

Watched Glass Castle over the weekend. It's based on the memoir of the same name by Jeanette Walls and stars Brie Larson, Naomi Watts and Woody Harrelson. It shifts back and forth between Jeanette in New York in the eighties and her experiences growing up moving from town to town to escape their parents' debts before they settle in their father's hometown. It's slightly grim fare with a slight tonal shift at the end that is jarring but it shows all of the remaining family members in real life reminiscing at the very end of the movie. Woody is really good as the father whose moods can swing like a pendulum but it's not happy viewing.

I was reading about that case recently. I can't wait to see this.

    Defiant ones.

Good documentary on Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre.

I didn't realise Iovine was such a renowned producer.

I watched Like Father last night. Completely inoffensive. There's not a lot you can say about beyond Kelsey Grammar has an odd shade of liver failure yellow about him throughout the movie.

Playing Sideshow Bob for too long maybe?

Finished watching Felicity Ward on Live at the BBC where she talks about her IBS and her mental illness. It's a fantastic hour of comedy.

"Good" doesn't really do it justice. It's the best music documentary ever put together. And up there with best documentaries of all time of any genre.

    Yikes!

I thought it was good personally but no more than that.

In the music documentary genre alone I thought Dig! and Some Kind of Monster were better.

Very watchable but I think an episode too long.

I think they should have ditched most of episode 4 and stuck another bit on episode 3 to finish it. Episode 4 felt a bit like a glorified Beats ad.

    Great series overall though.

Insatiable: you'll either love it or hate it, the critics hate it, good viewer scores on IMDB.

Think the critics have got this one wrong - its not a politically incorrect promotion of body shaming, it's actually a razor sharp satire on how we view current social issues disguised as goofy comedy about beauty pageants. It also deals with taboo subjects like paedophilia and ruthless adults exploiting their kids, through the prism of a comedy show.

Anyway, you'll either love it or hate it!

Just my own opinion, but I think you need to watch some other music documentaries as well as documentaries in general to come out with a statement as bold as you have - I certainly wouldn't even put it in my Top 20 (and probably more) documentary list, but then again I've probably seen more documentaries than most. Documentaries should be shot from an unbiased and independent perspective; this wasn't far removed from a self-produced 4 hour Video Press Release. Here's what I wrote about it a few months back on another thread:

    The Defiant Ones
Whilst undoubtedly entertaining and slickly-produced, I just felt a bit underwhelmed by what isn't too far removed form a 4hour+ puff piece on Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine - maybe I just knew too much about both of them to get anything new from it? Worth a watch nonetheless if for no other reason than getting the views of some of the other artists on either or both of the main protagonists and for insights into them and their creative processes as much as Dre and Iovine. My biggest criticism of it would be that's it's too nice (again, puff piece) and would have been far better served showing the other side a little more (we get glimpses, but that's it). Still a 7/10.

Insatiable is 6.8 right now on IMDb, which is very average, maybe just below average for a tv show. Might give it a try all the same though.

Edit: Tried an episode. Not funny. I like the hatefulness of it though and it promises to become quite violent.

The whole fat-shaming thing seems hugely blown out of proportion. Dunno I really don’t see this show causing people harm.
