Espn America will be showing serie a for anyone with access to the channel.

That's good pricing from Eleven, will they show every match and we can just pick which one we want when there are more than one game at a time or are we stuck with watching whatever they choose to show? Also see on the eirsport site they still have Serie A listed, maybe they still have some matches or maybe they just haven't updated their site yet.

EDIT: Just saw on their site that they will be showing at least one Serie A and one La Liga free on Facebook every week so there will at least be some matches available free.
ELEVEN SPORTS has struck an innovative partnership with Facebook that will see the social media platform become ELEVEN’s free-to-air (FTA) partner in the UK and Ireland.

As part of the agreement, at least one match per week from both LaLiga and Serie A will be shown live and free of charge on ELEVEN SPORTS’ UK Facebook Page. A selection of games from the other top-flight football leagues available on ELEVEN SPORTS will also be shown on Facebook across the season.

Select matches shown on Facebook will include those featuring the world’s biggest clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Napoli, and best players including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

Ronaldo’s eagerly anticipated Juventus debut is one of the opening games selected for live streaming on Facebook. The games to be shown LIVE on ELEVEN SPORTS’ UK Facebook Page across the first two weekends of the LaLiga and Serie A seasons will be:

    (All kick-off times BST)

    Friday 17/08 - Girona v Valladolid (7.15pm)
    Saturday 18/08 - Chievo v Juventus (5pm)
    Monday 20/08 - Valencia v Atletico Madrid (7pm)
    Saturday 25/08 - Valladolid v Barcelona (9.15pm)
    Sunday 26/08 - Inter Milan v Torino (7.30pm)

Pricing is ok, but I am seriously considering cancelling my Sky subscription unless they get a channel for Serie A. Will the Champions League games also be part of Eleven Sport, or will they be streamed on Sky Sport as usual? I don't watch much tv, only interested in these events tbh.

From this year RTE will choose one game on Tuesday with TV3 showing a different game and also showing two games on Wednesday, there will be two kickoff times each night, one at 5:55pm and the other at 8:00pm. TV3 will also be showing Europa League and have the rights to both finals. BT still have the UK rights so hopefully they'll still be available here, a few years back the used to black out the channel for Europa League matches as they didn't have the rights here but that stopped so hopefully it won't happen again.

For the Serie A, I emailed Eleven Sport to ask about their coverage and whether we could choose which matches we watched when there were multiple matches at the same time, they replied with this
    Dear dor83,

Thank you for contacting ELEVEN SPORTS support.

There will be 4-5 games available each week from Serie A and La Liga. Unfortunately, you can't choose which games you want to watch.

    Best Regards,
    Teodora
    ELEVEN SPORTS

So we are stuck with whatever games they choose, was hoping for all games to be available and just choose the one you want to watch.

I also contacted Eir about their site still having Serie A listed to see if they would be showing it but they haven't replied despite me contacting them four times. They don't have any Serie A matches down on their schedule for this weekend so my guess is that they won't be showing any.

I'm surprised Serie A games will still go ahead this weekend after todays tragedy in Genoa.

I know they will have a minute silence but I think they should halt all games.

I'm in no way trying to be insensitive to what happened or belittle your opinion but why would they postpone the matches scheduled for the weekend for something that happened 4-5 days before and has nothing to do with football? Again, not trying to be insensitive, it was a tragedy and my sympathy is with anyone affected by it but I see no reason for the league to postpone fixtures because of it.

For anyone thinking about signing up to the Eleven Sports site, I signed up for the trial yesterday and cancelled the auto-renewal straight away, they sent me an email today offering a discount on the annual sub of €10 so I got it for €50. It's worth doing it if you're thinking about getting it.

So the transfer window is closed and the season starts this afternoon, I'm really looking forward to this season and not just for Inter but for the league as a whole. Obviously the big news from the transfer market was the arrival of Ronaldo but even without that it was a big window, Inter have brought in quite a few players, Milan without Li have done well, Napoli will be interesting with Ancelotti, Roma have brought in a lot of players while only really losing Alisson and Ninja, Lazio have done ok too so even though I expect Juve to win it again I can see it being a close fight for the rest of top 4 positions.

As an Inter fan I am very happy with the players brought in and while Cancelo and Rafinha will be missed I think the replacements are very good and combined with the other signings it will improve the starting 11 and the overall squad. The players brought in mean that there will be more flexibility in the tactics that can be used and the attack has been added to so that it shouldn't be all down to Icardi so there should be more goals from other players this year. Where last season we could easily predict the line-up for every match I expect there to be a lot more variation with formation and players this season, which should make them harder to play against hopefully. While I don't expect a title challenge as I think Juve are too strong for anyone else, I do expect a top 3 finish(hoping for 2nd) and the issues with form that happened from December to February to be gone and a much more consistent season.

Chievo v Juve is the first match of the season and should see Ronaldo make his debut but the big match of the round is Lazio v Napoli tonight. Tomorrow the 5:00pm game is Torino v Roma and the rest are at 7:30pm except the two games which were postponed(Milan v Genoa and Samp v Fiorentina).

Inter start with a difficult away trip to Sassuolo who have a very good record against Inter but I expect Inter to get a narrow win.

Milan have signed much better this summer compared to last.

    I predict

    Inter
    Juventus
    Roma
    Lazio
    Milan
    Napoli

I think Juventus will be distracted with the Big Cup, and Inter have made very good investments.

I am prepared to be very wrong - it is hard to decide from 3 - 6 what order.

As an Inter fan i am looking forward to this season. We have made some good signings and added to the fact we have Champions League Football this year I cant wait to see what we do in Europe. I still think that Juventus will probably win the league again with the Ronald purchase but we should run them close and if we finish second and have a good run in Europe and win a domestic cup it will be a good season.. Forza Inter:D

I would really like to keep up with Serie A properly this season.
In recent seasons I've tended to just see bits via reddit, and while it's fairly reliable as far as seeing goals and getting scores overall i've felt it to be pretty unfulfilling and disjointed.
What exists in the way of round-up/highlights shows?
Would be interested in any and all recommendations, both available via Irish tv subscriptions and other/foreign broadcasters.

Think Eleven sport are showing 4/5 games a week and a highlights show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,542 ✭✭✭dor83

Yeah Eleven is really the only option at the moment, I read somewhere that they will have highlights from every game so that's good and I think they'll have a round-up type show too. I went to their site and it let me watch the highlights to one of last nights La Liga games and from last seasons games in Serie A without logging in so it might be free and only need to sub for the matches, give it a try. They will also be showing some free matches on their Facebook page so that is at least a plus, I'd prefer if it was on an actual TV channel but it's better than nothing.

    Thanks.
Seems like a pretty reasonable deal they're offering.
I see from the FAQ they say they're showing Chievo - Juventus for free via Facebook today too.
edit: well, everything bar the opening 15mins :pac:

Yeah that's to do with the rules for broadcasting live football on a Saturday afternoon in the UK, I have it on the app at the moment and it showing it fine so it might detect IP so it can show it here.

EDIT: And it's gone to just commentary now so it's blocked here too. I think I'll email them to suggest they detect IP for it because I can't see why they couldn't and if enough people ask for it they might look at doing it.

Yeah unfortunately we are stuck with the delay that comes with streaming, maybe BT will decide to do a deal and get some games.

I was watching on an android box in the first half and the stream was poor, freezing a lot, but for the 2nd half I decided to use my laptop and it's much smoother. I put it down to the android box being old.

    Ya fingers crossed for BT

I've been watching it on my laptop and tbf it's good quality, it's just the delay is killing me

Luckily I did the free trial

Yeah the site seems to work well and I watched a few videos on my phone last night to and it was good, it was just on my android box which is old and needs updating so it was probably down to that. I've gotten used to the delays having to stream PL matches and the odd Inter one over the past few years.

I paid €50 for the year sub so it's not a bad price, I pay more than that for each of my IPTV services so can't complain about the price for a legit source.

Awesome game. Thought Dybala and Ronaldo were poorish. Tough on Cheivo though.

I really hope BT are watching todays Serie A matches and get off their ass and just get the matches from Eleven

Looks like this season Serie A will be posting highlights of matches on their official Youtube channel along with English commentary. You can already find Saturday's highlights there now. Last season to watch highlights on their channel you had to put up with Italian commentary.

La Liga posts highlights on the evening of games too but they're usually very short (90 seconds) and without commentary. Ligue 1 provides English commentary with highlights on Youtube, but only at the end of the round of games on Sunday around midnight. Bundesliga in the past has tended not to put up highlights to their Youtube channel unless it's Top 5 goals of the weekend type things.

Pleased to see Serie A take this step.

A lot people are saying Napoli will struggle but I thought they pulled off a brilliant coup to get Ancelotti. Sarri was an excellent manager for them but I feel that Ancelotti could take them one step further always thought he was a brilliant manager who has been unfairly driven out the door at Chelsea, Madrid and Bayern.

Top manager and is one of the few managers in Serie A with any decent experience at the top level.
