Last pre season game of the season the players should be allowed go out and have fun. If Joses plan for the season is to play like we've played in pre season then he won't see Christmas.

I tell you something else, Leicester will beat us Friday.
13/2 for a Leicester win seems like very good value right now.

    Probably go for that myself.

Mind, Leicester are without Vardy and Maguire, and have lost Mahrez. They are weak enough right now.

As much as I love Jose, if this continues into the start of the season And we have a bad start, I’ll be pushing for him to be moved on, it will be his third season and there can absolutely be no more excuses

Lordy beat me to it with an example, but I was going to say the excuses have already started, after many of us agreeing at the end of last season that there could be no excuses for Jose this season.

Yes Jose needed to be backed fully this window, but it's not an either/or situation where only one of he or Ed take the blame. There has been hundreds of millions already invested at Jose's request, he has been backed and then some. Ed failing to get in 2 more players this window does not absolve Jose of poor football and/or results on the field that we've seen so far or might see this coming season.

There are a pair of them in it - Jose needs to do better with the players he asked for and got so far - Ed needs to possibly go if he had another poor transfer window after the debacle that was his first transfer window with Moyes.

Ed Woodward possibly dropped the ball in this window, but he'll be a convenient distraction for a few who just don't want to admit that the manager is unfortunately failing on some level with his players.

No decisions yet, but if we do have a title challenge-ending start to the season, it's likely that that I'll want to see the back of both Jose and Ed by Christmas. Whatever about sponsorship deals and backing various managers, that would be 6 seasons of title failure which Ed had overseen at United.

Maddison could do some damage in the absence of Mahrez.

We should be clear favourites but 13/2 doesn't seem right.

Whos the saviour then? Sack Jose fine but who can make THIS lot work? A new manager will still be begging for a starting LB and RW. Unless people honestly think a new manager will turn Luke Shaw and Juan Mata into speedy penetrating options in each position.

We can't seem to finish deals anymore and that is public so who will take this? I guess a new manager might see it as a handy paycheck but this group of players, regardless of manager, will be in a fight for top 4 at best. The deficiencies in the starting XI are glaring.

Players wont decrease in asking price because we have a new manager. Probably be more expensive each year asking prices rise it seems.

It’s funny cause between people quoting the Seville game and our style of football you could easily forget that last seasons league finish was the best since SAF retired. It might feel bad but objectively speaking it’s not nearly as bad as
    Some are making out.

I agree with how difficult it is to watch that team. But I still think Jose is the best chance for success.

I genuinely believe if Jose has the team on board it could be a very good season.

Not looking positive at the moment. We're in danger of sliding rapidly this season. Money spent on the wrong players over the last few years is more becoming a serious issue, Pogba in particular has been extremely disappointing and really should have the but between his teeth regardless of his relationship with the manager. Hopefully we can begin to feel and play some decent football but it's hard to e it happening at the moment.

We shouldn't really be worried about that tbf. I think so too but the measure of us isn't going to be Leicester. It's disappointing that we even fear them despite the fact they'll be likely missing their three best players from last year

Not a single shot on target ... Jesus Christ almighty!! Confidence is shot going into a new season.

I'm not saying we replace him, I'm just acknowledging reality of the project and the football so far. In fact, I have no preference or idea who we would replace Jose with should it come to it soon.

I endured the Moyes and LVG days with the knowledge that the Jose safety-net was still out there for us, that no matter what he would eventually come in and win a title. If Jose doesn't do it, it will not just be 'meh...next please' for me, but a big disappointment and a shaking of some long-held beliefs.

So it gives me no joy to suggest that he might be failing. And btw, it's not necessarily a 'title or he goes' situation for me this season. As discussed at the end of last season, it will depend on the context; For example, If we finish a very close 2nd and have been in the title race up until the end of May/early April, well then there's a case to be made for progress there.

Tonight was seriously disheartening. I don't think we sat deep by choice because playing on the break generally involves your forward(s) assuming more threatening positions from which they can break at the opposition when you turn over possession but we just looked like we were digging in.

Still only a preseason match but it has put bringing in a good possession midfielder up there along with CB in terms of priority for me. Hopefully Matic and Pogba will improve things spades full when paired with Fred but we're not going to be able to play those three for 50 games in order to challenge for anything and the depth just isn't there to compensate.

Can you clarify your position here, win the league of bust ?

Edit : your looking to see a progression in style which is fair enough.

Seeing on Twitter that possession tonight was 72%-28% ....

Mourinho inherited some meh players who are still there and starting. The players he added are probably good enough (Lukaku, Pogba, Sanchez and Matic) or still young ( Bailly and Lindelof). It's hard to go against him other than his style which we all knew when brought in anyway when he hasn't got in the players he wants. City are getting better every year too rather than us closing the gap.

Mina set for Everton apparently. Wonder does that mean the Rojo deal is off now aswell? So we could have 6 senior CB's for two spots next year now :pac:

I can feel Woodward preparing the 80m deadline day deal for Maguire.

Probably fail with a bid to sign Andre Silva on loan aswell to complete the recreation from his first window!

Funny, if anything the Seville games opened my eyes to the fact that we just have not got a league winning team, we got as good a result as you could expect away from home and the players were told to go and win the match at OT and we got outclassed, simple as that, this is where the Mourinho criticism falls short for me. We are a top 4 team but we will not be a league winner in the foreseeable future, there is a massive gap between the two.

We will sack Jose and the problems will persist, we will be downgrading in manager and the first thing the new manager will require is half a dozen new players. There just seems to be no logic in sacking the best manager we will get to replace him with a lesser manager who will need to rebuild.

Liverpool have, annoyingly, assembled a squad that will challenge this season, City have added to theirs when they were already clear.

United, as a club, aren't bothered about city. As long as they get top 4 it doesn't matter. The club has no ambition of winning the title anymore.

We needed a huge summer to compete. The club haven't pushed for a big summer (as Liverpool did cause they want to win the title) because they don't care.
