    Hi,

Just about to collect a car. A UK import. Will have been VRTed but not NCTed.

Can I NCT it before I receive the new tax disc, or do I have to wait?

    Thanks.

Yes no tax disc needed, however in order to get your new logbook issued the car needs to get first motor tax purchased. Sometimes NCT will want to see the logbook, sometimes not, either way they will do the test and if they insist on logbook will issue NCT after you show it to them at a later date.

agree. You will have the VLC paperwork though which you could show them if they ask for the taxbook. Might do the trick

If your import has a valid MOT, that can now be exchanged for an NCT cert .
