Peugeot Boxer fuel guage

My 2011 Peugeot boxer shows correct level when I turn on the ignition , let's say half full. When I start the engine it drops to zero and flashing empty light begins. Garage charged €80 to explore and no answer , only , Oh you might need a new ECU , which I don't think is tha answer .......Help !

It could be the answer. Maybe get a second mechanic to have a look.
