Does anyone know if you sell a car to someone do they become the owner legally immediately when the cash changes hands or 5 days later when they get the log book back with their details on it?

    Cheers :-)

OP, it depends on the circumstances. Technically once cash changes hands then you become the owner ie around insurance. However you don't become the registered keeper until the change of ownership is processed by the motor tax department so if you commit a traffic offense or drive through the M50 toll then the previous registered keeper would receive the fines until registration is transferred over.
