Well as I made clear, to me it's an individual affliction, not a collective one. It's not that everyone in tipp is a loser or inclined to acting like one, but if you go on about 09 a lot, then you definitely are. Same with limerick, I'm a big fan of limerick hurling generally, and think this has the makings of a fantastic team in particular, I really, really hope they win the all Ireland, and they showed maybe mental strength the last day to win in the fashion they did. They clearly didn't care one iota about the county's history against kk. So when I say going on about how refs are somehow to blame for limerick consistently losing to cork, I'm not saying that loser talk is a limerick problem. I'm saying it's the original poster's problem. To be fair, he has many problems. A tendency to type "lolzers" is one of them.

Fair enough. As I said, I felt it was a point with some validity. Just didn’t feel the obvious dig added much to it. But I’ve already said too much. Sure at the end of the day what am I but another Tipp man still banging on about 09? Sheesh beesh.

That Limerick poster seems to be around 12, or that’s his IQ maybe. Sorry for the insult but that’s how it came across anyway. Nothing that was posted was worth responding to but here we are anyway.

I think Limerick have been a breath of fresh air this summer, am pleased for the many Limerick people I know who are waiting a long time for this. I do feel Cork might edge it but Limerick are in credit for the year. They should be even better in 12 months time.

Oh I wasn't referring to you! I was referring to the person who raised the subject in the first place.

It's not really about complaining about an individual refereeing decision for me. I'm sure we've all done it. But there's a few things that I think just come across as loser talk: one is feeling that over a very long time, your team gets the short end of the stick in refereeing decisions against another team. Especially when you have no evidence at all for this, but either way, it's pathetic. Another is continuing to complain about a particular decision years after it happened (cf. Tipp people going on about 09, Wexford people, more than two decades later, still adding steps to DJ's goal).

Or Kilkenny people and Barry Kelly or Galway people and John Denton would be much much much more obvious examples.

Back to the hurling boys I’m going for a Galway win against Clare the temperament is there now to ride out any storm Clare can throw at Galway.
Limerick will beat Cork they couldn’t beat a 14 man limerick at home and they are on the crest of a wave after the kk game.
Here’s hoping all panels stay injury free for the rest of the season.

Cork were playing there 3rd game in two weeks, they were fatigued and showed great character to almost win at the death. They made tactical mistakes that day such as playing Coleman sweeper, also Cork wont hit hopeful ball into there ff line like kk did last sunday

I was at that match what a game what an atmosphere both teams were superb cork played 3 weeks in a row Limerick down to 14 evened it out the semi will be a sell out its a hop of a ball for me. The key could be both teams full back line and whoever wins that could be victorious

For the semi finals, as a Clareman my heart says Clare but Galway are so much better than everyone else it'd take a lot for Clare to win, we'd need everything to go right, all our players to play to the top of their potential and Galway to have an off day.

The other semi final is fascinating, before Clare beat Limerick in Ennis you would have said Limerick were flying and were real All Ireland contenders, 1 bad game and they are almost discounted, I was very impressed with how Limerick recovered after Kilkenny got their goal in the quarter final, not too long ago Limerick would have folded but they didn't this time. For the first 34 minutes of the Munster final you'd have said that Cork were in a shambles, for the rest of the game you'd say they are the best team in the country, outscoring their opponents by 13 points until Clare got a consolation goal.

I'm going to hope for a Clare win in the semi-final but the bookies spread of Galway by 5 looks about right. The other semi final, I honestly don't know.

I havnt been looking forward to a hurling game as much in years, two teams who play a nice brand of hurling, plenty scores ,skill and passion. It should be a thriller.A timely substitute could well decide this.Absolutely nothing between the two teams.

I thought it was 35k in Limerick alone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,044 ✭✭✭slegs

That’s what they expect. As I understand 35k has been sold via centra and tickets.ie already even before the club numbers confirmed

Is this on tickets.ie? They don't appear to be there now

The referee for Sunday's game would need to be very switched on. It's going to be an extremely fast game I feel and I'd be concerned that Cork are that bit better at winning frees.
This dipping the head into the tackle needs to be stopped. When a player tries to round his marker he dips his head and it looks like the defender is high tackling him. Cork are good at winning frees and I'd like Limerick to be a little cuter.

    :) ... if it’s a free it’s a free, don’t matter if it’s for Cork or Limerick.

Yeah I agree 100% that a free is a free no matter what. How ever I don't think alot of these supposed dangerous head high tackles are in fact frees. Forwards are playing for them by dropping their head. In that situation a free ought not be given. It works well in rugby..if you dip your head and get the Hurley around the neck it's on you not the defender or tackler. Play on.

Over 80000 people have joined the queue for tickets, and it's still only Wednesday. Would be very surprised if the stands don't at least sell out. Might have trouble filling up the Nally. I'd expect 75k to be there at least though. Should be a great occasion.

Why wouldnt it be a sell out who'd want to miss this

If Limerick managed to win the All Ireland imagine the boost hurling in the city would receive. It's badly needed. The likes of Claughaun, Old Christians and St Patrick's wouldn't make a senior club team between them at the moment. There's been numerous task forces but they weren't up to much. A New hurling club with heavy backing would be a great idea..like a revival of Young Irelanders maybe
