My daughter dropped in two evening dresses, which cannot now be located (north Dublin city dry cleaner). What's the best she can hope for? They were not cheap.

(family speculation is that they ended up at some stranger's Debs, and might have got thrashed!)

Have you complained to the dry cleaners and, if so, what response did you get

Still at the 'shrugging shoulders, oh dear' stage. Manager/owner involvement has to be next and soon. We need to resolve quickly as said daughter is emigrating soon, and I'll be like Fr. Ted in the knickers section of Dunnes if I'm not careful.

Make an appointment to see the Manager urgently and have a compensation figure in mind, otherwise you have no option but to go to the Small Claims Court

That is good advice. Have the cost of the dresses. Shrugging shoulders by the staff isno good.
Also keep a record of date and times dresses were given in, date that your daughter went to collect etc and response.
The Small Claims Court likes those details when making decisions

Also retain the ticket stubs, you will no doubt be met with the Terms & Conditions which will say "Management have no responsibility blah blah blah", these have no legal standing so do not be put off if they are waved in your face
