You must think very little of Shaw if you have more fait in dalot playing out of his strongest position :)

I don't see much problem with Shaw as I said I think the two of them are stronger then right back but eitherways right wing is non existent so fix that and we have a chance.

Actually Dalot was playing on the left in most of his first team appearances,

Played higher up on the right for the underage last year i think I read When he signed

Unless I picked it up wrong, Jose said he would like to sign 2 more players but what he would like and what will actually happen may not be the same thing.

    I'm paraphrasing here of course.

It's definitely getting into the "I'm starting get worried" part of the transfer window. We'll be very very lucky to get 2 more players in at this stage imo.

He said the exact same thing last season and I think we made a signing a day or two later :D

He did say he would like to sign two more, but I would say that you would see him a lot more agitated if deals were not close to being announced.

Reporter: is this position (FB) you want to stregthen going into new season

Jose: No and then goes on to praies Dalot

Reporter: Any other position you are looking to strengthen

Jose: One thing is what I would like, and another thing is what is going to happen

Reporter:If you could get any wish anyone's you would want

    Jose: Yes

    Reporter: All of them?

Jose: No, I would get 2 more players.

    Reporter: 2 more players

    Jose: Ya

Reporter: Any names, we will keep it as a secret

    Jose: No

obviously he wants more signings but said will sign 2 more players.

He said "I would get 2 more players" which sounded signings are close. There was no "hopefully" "would like to", it was clear "I would get 2 more"

    Maybe language issues too.

No he definilty ment if he had any wish he would get two more.... It was continuing on from her question of if you had a wish.

That makes sense. Also btw Jose probably means he won't sign RB when asked about fullback as the discussion was about Valencia.

    From your text...

He says you don't always get what you want
She says about if he had any wish etc
He said he would get 2 more

I read that as in that's his wish, 2 more players.
That coupled with his earlier comment about what you want to happen and what will happen would not go as a confirmation of 2 more guaranteed.

I'd say they are being worked on sure, I'd say 1 is pretty much done and dusted and he is hopeful of the second.

I would get is very different to I will get, or there will be two more players or we will sign two more players.

If he had his wish he would get 2 more players is how it looks to me anyway

That is a hopeful, aspirational statement rather than a guarantee

Yeah you are correct. I sort of forgot the first question when he said he would get 2 more players.

I really dont. I'd play DDG at LB before Shaw tbh. I think it speaks volumes that the club Shaw got linked to this summer was Everton. Its not that no Top tier team were after him, it barely was a Tier 2 team sniffing round.

Lucky you are not the manager!!

    Thats very distressing.

Jose's comments and moreso the United twitter feed make me think that there is a big signing in the offing.

Heart says Bale would be the mutts nuts but I dunno how his fitness would hold up in the PL. If we signed him though, jaysus it would make me smile.

Until Jose plays him at left back I mean.

Maybe he's thinking of TFM as backup to Valencia. What would he be like there ? Didn't see much of him last season but he seemed to have got plenty of game time

Mbappe for the right wing ;)

I think United need a better attack. Defence is pretty strong overall. I don't see full backs getting forward much early in attacks so they are less of a priority than a quality attacker.

Especially with the Martial mess and Rashford still patchy (fair for age).

Fred should help shape, structure and help fix midfield which was the major flaw last season.

Not full back or cb (imo). It was playing two in midfield as Herrera was so bad, then needing to go wth McTominay. Matic playing too many games overall. If Herrera is over his problems then midfield could actually be a strength, how great a change that would be.

I think the exact opposite, and think your post actually points to part of the problem rather than why it is not a problem!

United need to attack better, rather than a better attack per se, imo. We have Martial, Rashford, Sanchez, Lukaku, Mata in attack - with Pogba, Lingard, Fred (apparently good going forward) to support them. As options, we have good options (though I would love an actual winger) and our manager should be getting more out of that attack.

The United defence is not strong, imo. Our Goals Against is good because Dave Saves - more than his fair share of shots. He bails us out every game. We don't have good Goals Against because we shut the opposition down, our shots against and shots on target against stats are horrid relative to goals conceded. Far too often our defence doesn't stop the opposition, our keeper does.

Our full backs not joining in the attack early is a huge part of our attacking problem, especially when you consider our main options on both wings cut inside onto their favoured foot rather than go outside providing width (Rashford/Sanchez/Martial/Mata). We need the full backs to be the attacking wide outlet the forwards aren't. They don't do that, so our width is crap, our play becomes congested in the middle and our attack suffers in general.

If Jose provided more width via the attacking options, or put more freedom in the midfield to join the attack the full back problem would be lessened, but we haven't got a winger in that will provide natural width and Jose keeps banging on about Pogba needing to play more pragmatically.

So our attack won't come down the wings via attack or fullback and Jose doesn't want our midfielders taking risks, so god knows where he thinks the creativity and goals are going to come from.
