Ye mate this helps a lot as I have a high oom and was just gonna weigh off for the 2019 campaign and just get a higher order of merit. May look into doing the stage two so.
How did you get on ?

I have Irish Leaving cert Foundation level ! Not accepted as a second language , i will have to sit the PAS Irish proficiency exam ! There is details about it and I was aware this would happen but I dont know anyone who has sat it or anything specific !

I've looked into it a little as I'm in the same boat and apparently the test is to the standard of Irish Pass level leaving cert. I'm struggling to find courses in Dublin that suit me though,so I'm thinking of trying Rosetta Stone? Apparently the Irish test will be the last thing we do at the end of this campaign. Let me know if you find any decent courses?

Just get a Irish grinds teacher tell them what you need for them. After a few classes you should improve your Irish a lot. Try not to worry about it too much there is still a long way to go and the Irish exam is the very last thing just stay focus prepare as best you can.

I got on good, I got placed in the 600s so I'm happy with that. Ya do the prep from now and you will be well prepared when you are called. Best of look.

So the first 900 get called in September for stage 2 and then they take it in batches..??
So say the next 500 or so might be called by Christmas? Does anyone know for certain if that's how it goes?

The first 900 isn't September its the start of August so that might speed up the next 900?

Just out of curiosity is there many women on here?

After a long anxious wait for the results from Stage 1, I was delighted to see that I qualified. However, I placed in the low 2000s which I only then realized that the first 900 were only being invited to Stage 2 (for now). I was disheartened I must say but sure at least I passed the test like many have even if we haven't placed in the first 900. It'll just take a bit longer for us before we go onto Stage 2 and gives us more time to prepare ourselves. Congratulations to those who did place in the 900, well done and best of luck with Stage 2! Also congrats to all those who qualified regardless of your placement! For those who failed there's always a next time.

P.S. does anybody have an idea when the Garda reserve recruitment campaign will be out? And would it make any difference if you have already passed Stage 1 for the full time? Thanks!

Another one here too! I think there has been a push over the last few years to get more women to apply. It's good to have a few girls around. :)

I'm from Dublin but I lived in England for a while and was told that when they do the background checks it can slow it down, especially if it was further afield than the UK. But it won't affect your application, just when you start training, if that makes sense?

Same here! Just read there that providing we do well we may be invited to stage 3 fairly quickly. So to get documentation in order soon just Incase. I’ll have to order my Leaving Cert results as I can’t find them lol. If we have qualifications since the L.c do we bring them aswell?

I think someone on one of these threads said his vetting was a bit longer because he had lived abroad for while. I can’t imagine living in the North would hold it up too long though.

Oh really? Like they'll want all this documentation on the same day as the stage 2?

No not on the day of the stage 2 tests but soon after. It says you may not have time to get some documentation between stage 2 and 3 so we should be getting them in order now. I’ll prob have to order my leaving cert results as I can’t find them but I did find the junior cert lol. I must of taken them out of the folder at some stage and don’t know where I put them, typical!

I'm going to do the test prep course as well to prepare for it. I was worried I wouldn't be able to go because I'm going on holidays from the 7th-14th, I was delighted there was slots all the way up to the 17th!

Ah ok that's cool. Yeah I know! I'll have to order mine too because I have no hope of finding them.

Any idea what other documentation would be required?

I don't know, I guess like any results for exams that you completed and definitely anything to do with any course etc that you put down on your original application form. Also in the previous PAS exams and interviews I did, they always want a copy of your birth certificate and passport at the interview.

Dress code for these assessments? Although it’s not actually an interview I’m assuming to stick to suits for the time being?
