Changed the shock on my drivers side yesterday, all was well until today when I got an abs error flashing up on the dash.

Took the wheel off and the cable has been slightly frayed any ideas how to fix this would it need an electrical engineer. I have a donar car which I can take the cable from but is it something that will unclip from both ends.

That should unclip from both ends. Sensor one end and connector at the other. Unless this is the harness for the sensor... but I doubt it.

If the part isn't too expensive then it'd be best to replace the sensor. I've bought them cheap for my BMW.
