Today i learned something interesting watch related

Was thinking this might be a good idea as a way to share anything interesting releating to watches.I hope the information is correct,feel free to correct anything wrong.

I always wondered why Sunday was red on watches,apparently it is because holy days were marked red on church calenders.Not sure why Saturday is blue.

Big fan of Deadleast Catch,always wondered what the blue and golden watch Sig wore was,turns out to be a Alaskan style gold nugget watch.Really interesting as they are custom made and get handed down.

Very interesting about the symbols on the dials/casebacks of Seiko watches showing what factory they were made like my Bell Matic was made in the Suwa factory in January 1970.

Couldnt believe the price of the Bell Matic new,Taken from this 1969 catalogue $105, today $729.16 !!!


Never really noticed untill i got my watch and was contacting experts like John Bentley about the waterproof and water resistant casebacks.Really interesting as my watch is from 1970 which was around when they chaged to resistant casebacks.

When i was researching the Bell-Matic i was reading that the 27 Jewels was slightly less common because some countries taxed the watch by the number of jewels the watch had.17 Jewels was the most common as anything higher would get a higher tax.Never realised their was a tax on the number of jewels.
