PIAB order to pay, how long can insurance company delay it?

Who says they have to pay at all?

How long are you waiting for payment ? For the PIAB to issue an order to pay, both parties have to agree to the assessment of the award. If either party reject the assessment a certificate of release is issued and the claimant is then free to pursue the issue through the courts. It seems odd that this company is delaying paying after it has clearly accepted the assessment. Did you engage a solicitor to process the PIAB claim ? If you did, then that should be your first of call.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I engaged a solicitor. The insurance company failed to reject the assessment, so by default were judged as accepting the assessment. This was in May. The solicitor said three weeks ago that the insurance company claimed they had lost the paperwork and were getting payment sorted. But still nothing.

I am fed up of chasing the solicitor. It is frustrating when I can get no information other than through the solicitor.

Payment should be issued within 10 working days as per the cpc. But delays happen due to human error. Give them a couple of days and then kick up a fuss!
