1 or 2 year old car

Hi, I'm looking to buy a smallish car max 2 years old.
Looking at Hyundai i30, Toyota auris, Opel Astra, Nissan pulsar, Renault Megan, Ford Focus or something similar.
Any recommendations? Happy to have a 1.3 or 1.4 litre engine. No bigger.
Unsure of smaller engine as I am not sure they will go the distance. Open to correction from more informed people.
Budget is around €17,500. Would love to hear suggestions and opinions.

If you wait a couple of months, many main dealers will have their fleet/ summer rental stock coming back to them, could be decent deals available on low mileage nearly new models

I like the auris. Have my doubts about the longevity of small turbo engines, bit like I say I am no expert hence looking for advice.
Haven't considered a mini before but definitely worth a look.
Also fleet or summer rental stock might be worth holding out a little while for. Anything in particular to ask about if looking at ex fleet or rental cars.
Read the sticky on buying a used car. Was very useful.
Out of my comfort zone buying a car!

If you have concerns the auris with the 1.33engine is very good

Any specific reason why you want 2 years old?

What sort of mileage will you be doing? what will car be used for?

Peugeot 308, Kia Cee'd, Seat Ibiza,or a Skoda Octavia are other option you could look at. They all come with small turbocharged engines.

Yes a 1.33 auris would be a good option thanks.
As would the ce'ed. I would like to stay away from turbo if possible
Also on reason for 1 or 2 year old car only I am in a position to change it now but will have more expenses over next few years with kids college so would be slower to change. And hope to hold on to this new one until they are finished
Appreciate the ideas
Am I crazy not to consider a smaller turbo engine. Do about 15000 km a year but lots of short journeys.

A brand new car does not automatically suggest it will last longer. Once a car is properly serviced etc then it could last a lifetime.

You need to consider maybe an older car might be better as it will provide more space etc.....

If you doing lots of small journeys then hybrid or electric could be an option...Electric has minimal moving parts so less likely to break down....that’s a longer conversation if going Electric and better to post in that forum

Also a small engine can cause issues if too small for car. You need to check
If it has the power to pull the car and your not killing the engine trying to get some speed

I am going to test drive a 1.33l auris and and Hyundai i30.
The auris is probably my favourite on paper.
The i30 is a 161 reg SE blue drive. Not sure if that is the entry level spec or not. Garage also has a 161 reg deluxe spec.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the different specs in the older hyundais?
There just seems to be classic, deluxe and deluxe plus now so nit sure where SE blue drive sits.

The deluxe is higher than the se classic is usually lowest spec with the Hyundai but unlike other makes the entry spec is actually decent

Ah so the SE blue drive is a UK import. Never mentioned to me although I didn't get around to asking either.

Se is mid range uk spec ther is great value in them in the uk or north know a few people that got great deals importing one

Thanks for that. How does it compare to the Irish spec or is it similar.
Will have a better idea when I look at this two cars tomorrow.
Although I am leaning towards the auris for no particular reason.
