Is Bale really that good or are we only interested because he's potentially gettable being British?

When fit, he's probably the best Right Winger in the world currently. Not being hyperbolic there either.

The question mark is over his ability to stay fit though. He seemed to miss a good bit of time with Real over the last few years.

Guys I hate to keep asking this question, but Bale is left footed and everyone wants him as a right winger. Surely that's a contradiction in itself. We all hammer Ashley for cutting in from Left Back to get on his right foot so why would we now buy a naturally left footed player to play on the right wing? Am i missing something here??

Yep your missing the fact that it’s Gareth fooking Bale :)

Yeah your missing that he is the best right winger in the world it don't matter what foot he uses.

I've no problems with a winger cutting in the problem with Mata on the right is he stays in. Bale can work the line and then cut back on he left and cross which spreads the opposition defence and leaves gaps in the middle but at the moment they don't need to worry about the right so the middle is tightly packed with there left back and two center backs.

I've no problem with young on the left position he works well gets forward and stays wide enough to make the right back at least stay out there. So many of out attacks last year were focused on our left We need someone on the right to spread it.

Because he does most of the damage from there...

Just like messi, salah, robben, all lethal left foots so better to play them there to cut inside and let fly

I checked it up on "the google", turns out he started the first game v Uruguay and then was sold by United in Sept-66

A fit Bale is up there with the very best players around.
He would be a huge signing but its unlikely to happen imo.

So apparently some team have offered £67/€75m for a goalkeeper....

But so long as said teams "net spending" is in a certain range its all ok....

Wonder will their manager who spoke of quitting before he'd sanction spending striker money on defenders and goalkeepers be a man of his word...

Yup it's terrible that Klopp is spending big money to fix long standing problem areas in the team which have cost Liverpool so many points over the last few seasons.

It was such a stupid thing for him to say at the time - and it was clearly stupid when he said it . no hindsight was required. I called it as stupid at the time. You could see where transfer fees were going.

He was doing a Trump. Playing soundbites to his supporters, lying, knowing they would never call him on it or be arsed about it.

Klopp would want to win atrophy next season with the amount he's spent

Also, whatever about the money being spent - Liverpool are being very impressive.

Needed an upgrade at CB - spent the money needed to get their target.
Needed an upgrade at CM - have spent the money, twice, to get their target.
Needed an upgrade at GK - have offered the money needed to get their target.

Identifying the positions they want to improve, and actively working to get the deals done. Impressive stuff from them and I wish United were as active in identifying and correcting weaknesses in the squad.

I'd like to see a cup win (doesn't matter which one), a good run in the CL and to guarantee Top 4 again but not to be completely out of the title race before April.

I'd say any title race for any club will depend on how City do tbh. They blew everyone away last year and if they repeat the same this year everyone else is competing for second.

At the moment Liverpool are looking like the only team who might even challenge City.

Get a ****ing move on Jose and Woodward

Liverpool aren't fūcking around. Coutinho money being put to use.

Hope i can say the same for Utd by the end of the transfer window.

Absolutely was a stupid thing to say but when you consider what he's said and now done it makes for eye watering reading

World record fee for a defender on Van Dijk £75m previous record was £50 by citeh a couple of times over .. think Laporte was then bought for 57m thereafter

Current record fee for a goalkeeper £34m by Citeh on Ederson... and we're looking at a fee of £67m for Allisson...

That's 50% on top of the then record for Van Dijk and 100% on top if this Allisson deal goes through... that's not incremental growth that's at rogue trading levels crazy

but hey so long as the "net spending" is ok...

At least Liverpool have acknowledged the gauntlet City have laid down and are working to challenge it. They are making sigficant improvements to their side

I honestly feel like United have collectively sighed and said "its impossible, lets just hope we can maintain 4th."

That can change over the next 3 weeks, but this summer has been a massive disappointment so far, and there are no indications that the business needed is going to get done.

We are looking as likely to go into the coming season with the same glaring defensive weaknesses and unbalanced attack.

At least Jose can still resort to hitting it long to Fellaini

    ManUtd wated
    Striker - signed Lukaku
    CB: Nailly and Lindelof
    RB - Dalot
    DM - Matic
    Star midfielder - Pogba
    Controlling one - Fred
    Star wide player - Sanchez

Out of 10 outfield players, 8 are Jose's signings. We have identified and signed players, shame Jose didn't get best out of players.

Oh I fully agree but it's up to the others not to drop so many silly points next season.

Liverpool and United both showed of you attack City they can be got at, so I don't expect so many teams to sit off them next season.

There definitely won't be as big a gap between 1st and 2nd next season. City won't get as many points and I'd expect the chasing pack to pick up an extra few points.
