    Hi,

I did my test years ago in the UK and I never converted it because there was no real need to. Now with brexit coming online, I'm wondering if it would be wise to convert?

    Thanks for any advice

if you are living in ireland permanently you should have already converted it

It will still be a country recognized for exchange so no worry there but as mentioned if you are living here and driving it should have been exchanged many moons ago.

Exchange is already possible for several countries outside the EU & EEA like Australia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea so the UK leaving the EU will probably have no effect in this area.

The OP might have a paper license good til they are 70, no need to convert, as any eu license is valid in any eu state. the uk license will not be an eu license after March, so I'd convert before then.

Thanks everyone. Yes, my license is valid until I'm 70 so it didn't make sense to change it. I'd better do it now though

FYI, I just rang the NDLS and they said there was no necessity to change it. They don't know how brexit will affect it yet but they reckon they will have to give leeway/time to change it then if necessary. It costs €55 to change it to an Irish license.
