Edit - not a Camry but a Lexus. (I cannot change the title)

Was just browsing around DoneDeal and found this.

Looks like a solid car and decent size engine. Presume it’s a jap import. Looks like it’s a Lexus HS 250. Don’t recall seeing any of these much around Ireland.

    Anyone know anything about them?

Bit of an oddball yoke, seems to be based on the Mk3 Avensis. Strange that it doesn’t share it’s engine with the IS250, it’s got a 2.4 Atkinson cycle engine.
For €10k it’s just too much money IMO for an 09 that’s probably the only one in the country. I’d wait for early IS300h prices to soften, or look at a Camry Hybrid.

Thanks. Speaking of Camry Hybrid, these too seem to be very very rare in Ireland. Never seen one in the flesh.

    Looks solid though.
    Probably decent enough to drive.

I’d say it’s more built for comfort than thrills.

Be a right pain to arrange a test drive in that Camry

Ah I’d say it’s made it to Ireland since pics were taken.
Funnily enough, the mother’s e100 Corolla she got in the 90s came from the same Japanese dealer as that Camry did!

I thought they all disappeared years ago

The dealers importing Japanese cars. Used to be a good few around doing it but they all disappeared a few years back.

Darn straight. Still remember when we collected it, it was like a new car. Very clean Irish used cars just didn’t exist back then.

They always had a lovely spec. Deep red crushed velour, air con and random stuff like 4 wheel drive

It had velour alright but it was blue/grey, Auto aircon and electric folding mirrors and stuff you just wouldn’t expect on an early 90s car.
She was only talking about cars last weekend and still regrets ever selling it.

They were impressive when the Irish models were so grim. Even the UK imports looks decadent

The HS250 looks an interesting job. Reviews seem decent.
Is a Jap import likely to be more expensive/difficult to keep serviced, particularly where there may not be similar models on Irish roads?

Do insurance companies tend to ride you then also for having something out of the ordinary?

Insurance would be a bit issue I’d say. Body panels seem to be unique to the car and not shared with the Avensis. There would be no owners clubs in Europe, they’re often a wealth of information for compatible parts etc. If it was gorgeous you’d say fair enough but even a Camry hybrid would make more sense.
