I bought an iPhone7 from adverts and I can't remember the pass code he told me. (I know doh, don't give me a hard time) I have tried to contact this person to no avail and is there anything I can do? I got my brother to restore it to factory settings when we brought it home and it's iCloud locked to that account.

If it's activation locked to an Apple ID you don't have access to, then you're probably out of luck. Sounds like you got scammed.

99.99% deals on adverts either buying or selling are conducted through private message so if you got a passcode then the seller would have provided this to you by message so check your adverts messages.
Usual that you would have to enter a passcode as most second hand phones sold are factory reset therefore a passcode is not required.

Post a link to the sold ad.
All the details are there including the seller.

Thanks for the replies, I got it sorted. The seller got back to me and graciously gave me their iCloud details to login and set it up so then iPhone is sorted.
    Thanks again
