Just a quick one, if anyone knows the answer:

To renew a learner permit, you need to provide evidence of having sat the practical test in the last 2 years. This requirement is only for a third or subsequent permit though.

My question is, do they distinguish between learner permits and the old provisional driving license? So if somebody held numerous provisional licenses, but were only coming to the end of their first learner permit, are they on their first learner permit, or their fifth plus license?

    Cheers

I'm presuming that when they got their first learners permit, it was a replacement for their existing (2nd or 3rd) provisional licence.
They would have then had to give evidence of applying for a test when getting that permit

Btw, you don't need to have sat the test, you only have to prove that you applied to sit the test.
So, you can just apply for the test, never turn up, and just show the confirmation letter /email when applying for a new permit.

Rinse and repeat every two years.
