Recommendation for a used car - 10k budget

Hi All,

First time poster on this forum. Currently have a 09 Nissan Tiida and looking to upgrade, the Nissan has been good to me and hasn't given me any trouble over the last 3 and a half years but looking for something nicer, more comfortable. Thinking along the lines of Skoda, Audi, maybe BMW.

As a Cork exile

I do the journey between Dublin and Cork once or twice a month so something comfortable and economical for this journey would be good.

Apart from that its just the commute to work.

Budget of say around 10k but could push a bit above this for the right car.

Would I get a decent car for that budget either in ROI or up north?

I've looked on done deal etc. but I'm a complete noob when it comes to looking at cars.

Looking for something good and reliable with an affordable road tax. The Tiida is almost 600 a year for road tax.

Would love to hear any suggestions.

If you like Nissan the Qashqai 1.5 diesel is a good reliable car with low road tax. The Juke is an excellent car even if many don't like it's design. The 1.6 petrol engine version has lower emissions than the Tiida (270 euro tax).

Have the exact model and year, bought up the north in February. Economical I’m averaging 60mpg since getting it. All types of driving since I got it. Very comfortable car, nice finish inside.

Reviving this thread as we're only getting around to purchasing a car now and looking at a Kia Sportage. Budget has been upped.

We are looking at a 2015 Sportage in the north. It has ~80k miles on it. Would that sort of mileage put anyone off?

Inlcuding the VRT the price is 2-3k cheaper than what we would pay for a 2015 Sportage in the south.
