Old model or new model A4

Looking at the following figures which would you go for.
142 a4 highest spec 170bhp costing around 18k

Or

161 a4 basic spec 150 bbl costing around 24k

Just wondering if its worth spending the extra to get the newer current model ?

Anyone guess what resale value of each would be in 4 years time?

What are your plans for the car, are you going to put mad miles on it and in 3 years time it will be worth feck all either way so won't matter which it will be 50% what you bought it for?

Not sure on the exact differences are but the 142 is pretty nice to be in, €6k is a lot extra to pay unless it has essential features you want.

Do about 20000 km a year. Hoping to get something with around 60000km or less on it.

Ideally would like a high spec new model but ha 've to draw the line somewhere with spending.

Buy the better car not the newest one.

Silly comment seeing as the newer car is an all new model. I wouldn't buy the old one. Saying that, I wouldn't buy a base new model either.

I'd go for the older, cheaper, higher spec model. Just not a fan of depreciation and I don't go in for the idea that new models are inherently much better than outgoing models. The odd time there's a big step up and it possibly will be soon with hybrids/electric and self driving coming down the line. But 2014 to 2016 diesel a4s are very similar.
It's just the way I do things myself but understand others are different.

I've driven both and much prefer the newer model A4. The older model I never liked as a driver. It depends on what you want from a car really....

There is only about 500 euro difference afterwards as the cheaper one has a 395 pound administration charge on top of the price and also the vrt is an extra 600 euro on it.

Normally I would say The s line model but it is 150 ps whereas the other is 190ps. I think I would prefer the extra power.

Yes it's a hard one to pick but the sline is so also from an Audi main dealer.

24k would probably get you a 2015 A6 which would have a better standard spec than the A4.

Shane Connolly seems to have a couple s line a6's. Perhaps a bit over budget but a nicer car than the a4. Dunno what he's like to deal with but they all seem to be English cars

No its an a4 I am set on getting. Just not gone on the a6. But yes I did notice there is great value in the a6 alright.
