I'm applying for my theory test and on the website it states you must have your public services card to apply for the test but as far as I'm aware this idea was scrapped lately. Do I just ignore this and can I use my passport on the day instead?

The idea was scrapped for people applying for of renewing their licence. There was uproar about it and it was changed. Seems clear on the website that you need it. The government are slowly forcing everyone to have one.
