Lads look take off the red tinted glasses and just wake up to the fact that Dave is a useless keeper and like it or not we are stuck with him for the next 10 years.

Surely not. Thought we were bringing in Lee Grant.

Just seen from 11 shots faced in the World cup De Gea let in 10 that is mental ,
I know a lot where peno's but still for him that's very very poor,

If you take away the shootout it's 6 goals conceded in 4 games.

Of those 6, 2 were penalties.

Sure he certainly wasn't at his best, but he isn't the reason Spain are at home.

The fact that his defence conceded the penalties (not counting the one last night), and also couldn't beat Russia with 79% of possession is the crux of the issue.

Ah so it’s the fact that he dived for the penalties that’s the reason he isn’t good at them.. he just needs to stand up straight..

Actually probably would have saved at least 2/3 if he did :D

Well if he had dived he might have stopped one :P it somehow got under his stomach?

Why didn't he follow the Andy goram diet.... he'd have saved it then.... ]

FFS is it simply a case of when you have the name Dave you can do nothing right at all....

That is very true , the most surprising thing for me was De Gea's passing it was absolutely woeful in all matched, Is it that bad for United and no one notices due to the world class save after world class save  ?

His long distribution is very good, can pin point a pass from 40/50 yards easily, he wouldn’t be woeful playing out but it depends on the defence too and the pressing or tactical awareness of the opposition, when the opposition is not pressing or not cutting off the spaces he is grand and it’s not really noticed as he can be a yard or 2 off with the pass and you or I wouldn’t be any wiser as the defender can take the ball easily, when the press or lanes are cut off that tiny margin for error is more noticeable..

He lets himself down when he is under pressure with the ball at his feet too.. but that also depends on the defenders getting into a position that he can comfortably make a pass to them..
His long balls have been truly awful for Spain, Twitter have really blew up about it , Its been a real surprise,

Found out something interesting with DDG (well for me).

Total record is 44 penalties 11 saves (not taking shoot-outs)

6 of those 11 saves came during his time at Atletico (2009 to 2011).
While at Atletico he had a record of 6 saves from 15 penalties. (40%)

So since joining us he has 5 saves in 29 attempts. (17%)

Penalties involve a perfect mixture of luck and timing but it's interesting how different the stats are to me. While at Atletico it was similar to the main penalty stoppers in the PL like Almunia, Foster, Mignolet

I just wonder what his strategy is - afaik he has gone to his right for every penalty he faced in the WC, why is that? Is it by design? Is it concious?

Who pays attention to what Twitter thinks?

For United he is an unbelievable passer of the ball unless he got knock on the head over the summer and forgot how to be a goalkeeper I'm not worried.

I can't speak for DDG but most former pro's tell of how the keepers who played with them would have research done on which side players tend to go to the most, and then hope to get lucky unless feeling they were mixing it up.

Not sure on David though but not a huge deal for me. Just an interesting change in fortune regarding that.

Wasn't it Lehmann before with the penalty notes in his sock. Picked the right direction for all the penalties, but then Cambiasso stood up, he studied his sheet long and hard put it back in sock and obviously got into his head. Saved the penalty and then it came out Cambiasso wasn't even on the list! Pure brilliance.

To be honest DDG is a 6/10 keeper. Sell him off to madrid for 100 odd mill. Romero could do his job, maybe even better if given the chance.

Fotmob app also reporting that jose hates rashford and we need a new back up striker

What a load of ****e written up there....

Sorry must remember must not ask a question about a united player if its question  a certain part of there game ,
We all know he is the worlds best shot stopper but iv never heard anything ever mentioned good or bad about him with the ball ,

I'd prefer Allisson or Courtois if I was looking for a new number 1.

Do you honestly see him having a future at the club after that ludicrous display last night?

The sooner we get Grant between the sticks the sooner I can get a good nights sleep!
