I’m looking to get a hgv licence, I currently hold a full b licence and was wondering if I had to sit a theory and do all the driving lessons for it or would I just have to do a pre test for it?

You need to do category C theory test first, costs €72. If you want to drive professionally you'll also need to do a cpc case study theory test, another €72. You can apply for a learner permit for the rigid truck when you pass your theory test.
