Hi, the brake pad warning light came up last week on the car so my wife took it into a place near her work. Is it normal to replace discs with pads?
Also, should it cost €200 to replace both front pads and discs along with replacing a headlight holder and fitting two new bulbs? Price of bulbs was not included as I had bought separately.

To me and where I work that price is quite cheap. Let’s say the pads retail at 40 or there abouts even the cheapest quality disc is gonna cost u 50 a side so that’s more r less 150 so 50 labour is good. If quality doesn’t matter ur away with it. But at them prices I’d imagine the discs ain’t top of the brand list anyway. Hope the pads don’t start squeaking either.

Got my 4 break discs done on 2006 VW Golf. Cost me €400 and that was him charging me minimum he could in labour.

It's normal to replace discs with pads if the discs are worn beyond their limits or getting close. You can get a rough idea by feeling the outer edge of the disc for a lip.
€200 for discs and pads replacement is very cheap.

if you have a lip on the disk edge of 2 mil or more it should be changed far as i recall

Thanks for the responses! I might give the mechanic a call and see what brand the pads/discs are.
