    *I've read the sticky

A friend has asked me what they need to do, In order to get a bus licence.
    I haven't a clue..

I did my test 10yrs ago.

And since then, there have been a lot of changes, cpc testing , theory tests etc.

So for someone looking to get a bus licence (D licence) what's needed

    1: theory test
    2: apply for learner permit
    3: ?
    4:?
    5: driving test

Does the guy have to do X amount of driving lessons ?

I'm in the same boat as your friend. From what I understand the process is:

    1. Bus theory test - computer based test, 100 multiple choice questions, must get 75 correct
    2. Bus CPC theory test - computer based test, 3 case studies to read and answer 15 questions on each, must get 28 correct
    3. Bus practical driving test - standard run of the mill driving test
    4. CPC bus practical test - as far as I know consists of walk around checks, question and answers etc. (no actual additional driving)

1 and 2 can be done on the same day, and 3 and 4 are usually done together. That gets you the license and CPC qualification. Then you must do 1 days of training for each of the following 5 years to maintain your CPC qualification.

I've just passed my theory test, waiting on the learner permit. I'm doing the CPC case studies on Friday.

Also, I was asked at least 4 questions that were not in the official theory test June 2017 book! Surely that can't be fair!

Oh yea, I'm pretty sure there is no requirement for a fixed number of driving lessons either (that's for car and bike only as far as I know)

I'm going to apply for my test as soon as the learner permit drops in the letterbox.
