My friend who is from India is here on a stamp 4 visa as mother of Irish baby. She is due to renew her visa in August. Her Indian passport will be in date but will expire January 2019. Should she get a new Indian visa before renewing in August? Or would it be simple to get the 3 years time with her passport going out of date? Like can the immigration officer simply stamp her new passport or will he only give her 5 months with her current passport? (Apologies if what I ask is confusing!)

The new stamp will only cover the period until the passport expires. She's probably better off getting a new passport before August, or she'll be back at immigration in January.
