    Hi all

I am thinking of going for Saorsat just outside Belfast

Will saorsat have the exact same coverage rights of sports - such as champions league etc .. as it's terrestrial counterpart - "saorview" ( ROI )
I.E will content broadcast on RTE and TG4 Saorview in the Republic Of Ireland match the content broadcast on the same channels on saorsat at all times ?

    Thanks

no I get saorsat for the heck of it and it blacks out the champions league games. I think you will be ok with TG4.

I was thinking of getting SaorSat also more as an experiment but I'm wondering now is there any point.

Can I ask you is there any difference between Saorsat and Freeview/Sky UK in regards to Irish channels. Freeview/Sky NI both have RTE1/2/4 and no TV3 channels. They block programs on RTE such as Champions League, nearly all ROI international matches, some rugby matches and a number of entertainment shows such as Home and Away

Does SaorSat block all these? Particular as the World Cup is less than a fortnight away i was wondering if SaorSat will show the games on RTE or block them. As far as i know Freeview and Sky NI will block RTE's coverage

    Thanks is advance

And just to advise the World Cup is broadcasting in the clear on Saorsat RTE2 HD

Saorview is blocking the World Cup in Belfast (from Divis transmitter). Just checked this now. There is a note on screen saying "This programme is not available".

Saorsat and Freeview with the Irish channels are totally different.

The only programme blocked on Saorsat is the Champions league on RTE2 HD, and this only happened after BT got the sole rights for the Champions league.

All other sports and all other programmes are broadcasted in the clear on the Saorsat channels.

I can only hope with the new rights that RTE have got this year for broadcasting Champions league in the future that it will no longer be blocked on Saorsat, however It may be a question of Bob Hope.
