Martial breaks my heart. Despite the posts about his rankings in years gone by, I find he's useless on the counter, useless defensively....he slows down play, needs the ball played to his feet and insists on running at defenders. He might thrive, obviously, in a team set up to play to that strength but he's not at a team that can do that right now.

As opposed to Mata who is presumably the opposite of all these things?

They don’t play in the same position?

He also stated that he would want a RW to replace him that is good on the counter and can score goals

    smh

Martial's going nowhere according to Simon Stone.

    I don't believe this.

I'd say this will be our stance publically to try and counter act the damage Martial's agent has done to our negotiation position. But I think we'll happily take 60-70m for him if offered.

Mate, your "whataboutism" shtick won't work here. Feel free to ship out Mata too. A lovely chap but a square piece into a round hole as far as the squad is concerned, getting on in age too.

My birthday will be interesting. Liverpool at Anfield :(

Don't tell me 3 points at Anfield isn't a nice present.

They play the same position just on opposite sides. Everything he incorrectly listed as Martial's weaknesses could be said about Mata, and are issues that Bale would hopefully come in and solve.

If we are going to make room for a right winger in our squad, it would make more sense to get rid of the rubbish right winger we have now rather than get rid of a player who offers considerably more to the team whilst also being 8 years younger and on about half of Mata's salary.

This.. what I was saying about the agent weakening United position, we have now basically put it out there that he will only be moving if someone pays the big bucks, otherwise he’s staying.. needed to be done and happy with how quick they did it.

No whataboutism on my part, just making a point.

Plans already being made for trips to games. :)

When do we need to start making noises for next year's big trip?

I'm curious to see who comes after him and how much they are willing to pay tbh.

I've seen people say "Oh Bayern will want him, Juventus will want him, etc". We know Spurs would like him, and I think Chelsea could be interested.

I wonder would Monaco use that Lemar money to bring him back.

I think that’s one of the reasons the agent was making noise, no one had contacted him yet and he is looking to put it out there that he is available.

Monaco would be interesting, if PSG sell Neymar he could go there, don’t think he would slot in to Spurs the way they play atm, not a hope Bayern will spend that money on him. Juve are supposedly interested, but he wants to play up top and he wouldn’t get in there ahead of Higuin, maybe if Dybala moves he could take up the SS role

If we do sell Martial it should be:

    °For a very good fee
    °Not to an English club
    °Right winger must be signed

Well he is staying in Spain anyways, no way he is moving out of Spain and allowing his decision to be made on Movistar+ ...

He’s staying at Atletico I reckon. At this point he’s just taking the piss out of the media.
