Let him off but need to be getting top dollar and a RW bought.

He has massive potential but won't fulfil it at United imo.

Agreed. Would be annoyed to see him leave and not become the star for us I feel he could be, but i can't see him being used or developed to his best under mourinho. Just not suited to. Jose's style at all.

Martial wants to leave. Unsurprising if true to be honest, can't have been happy last season, particularly since Christmas.

    Straight swap for Verratti

    Meh.

He may well go abroad and look great.

But this is good news, imo, for Rashford, and means we will have to move for a RW which we need more than Martial.

Only himself to blame for repeat lacklustre performances

Was doing well in the run up to us buying Sanchez and dropping martial for him, regardless of how he played.

Liverpool are looking for wide cover. Hmmmm! ;)

The turn over of players really has become dizzying.
The worrying thing for me is, even if we retained the squad from last season I reckon we needed at least 4 first team players to challenge for the league.
Now losing the likes of Blind and Darmain is no biggy at all but the like of Martial, Fellaini etc who were there or there about all season need to be replaced too.

I’m actually feeling a little pessimistic about next season already.

    Again, meh.

We have three LWers and zero RWers. Losing Martial and replacing him with a RWer leaves us in a far, far stronger position imo.

Fellaini needing replacing hits us harder than this one tbh. We came second this year with Martial being surplus to requirements in the second half of th the season.

    700m and he's all yours :D

Really couldn't care less about him if he wants to leave and he's allowing his agent to put that out there, as that could have a negative effect when trying to negotiate a fee, he could have kept it in house and allowing the club to hold the cards in getting a higher fee for him. its becoming a normal thing for Martial, when he's not happy he has his agent run to the media.

move him on and bring in a RW, better for the all round balance of the squad, better for Rashford too as he will have more opportunities to start.

Tis a pity the two clubs refuse to do business, Klopp would get a tune out of him no question and say 40 m for a player with one year left who wants to go seems about right these days.

True about the left wingers. Sanchez is a huge gamble at this stage after an underwhelming few months at the club. I always preferred to see Rashford play from the left than up front so that’s a plus too. If we sign a RWer that goes straight into the first team in place of Martial then I guess far enough.

Maybe it’s the hangover from the end of the season, the Euro exit and the FA cup final but I’m really not optimistic about next season at the moment.

I know we finished second(which I still find mind boggling) but we look a long way from seriously challenging.

The more players that come in this summer(and are in the first team) the better imo.

As indifferent as his form could be I'll be sorry to see him go. One of a very few players at Utd who'd get you off your seat when he got on on the ball. Not much flair left in the club anymore.

Thank God Mourinho wasn't in charge at Utd when Giggs was in and out of the team in the early days. We're turning into such a workmanlike team these days, Martial was one who'd excite you on the ball.

Seemed very subdued since Christmas so it was on the cards

He really wasn't. He was inconsistent all season before Sanchez arrived. I don't buy the "Blame Sanchez Arrival" excuse.
Martial tends to escape criticism oddly.

Some of the blame for Martial lies with Jose, but the player himself seems to have an attitude problem.

    Why Jose?

I think Klopp mightn’t be overly impressed with his work rate without the ball.
The lad is hugely talented but hasn’t performed at a consistent level at Utd. A recurring theme with a lot of this squad.

While your here, have you got the links to these well documented attitude issues over the last few seasons, i asked earlier to expand but you seemed to just pop in throw this in the thread then not back it up

He was player of the month September October and January FFS.

This turn over of players is absolutely ridiculous.

Didn't see it as I don't read this thread regularly.

Mainly going on PSG fans opinions of him from fan forums reddit, but a quick google throws up plenty of results:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4921336/PSG-ace-Marco-Verratti-torn-apart-Christophe-Dugarry.html caught smoking

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4921336/PSG-ace-Marco-Verratti-torn-apart-Christophe-Dugarry.html criticsed by Sacchi

http://www.espn.com/soccer/paris-saint-germain/story/2981680/psgs-marco-verratti-should-be-shown-respect-by-french-media-agent Veratti trying to demand respect after having his attitude criticized in the media

His overall demeanor last season was poor. He really didn't look like he was trying at times. Tuchel and Sarri both had concerns about taking over with that midfield being incapable of pressing and Veratti being one of the main culprits (which is strange because he used to be a pitbull a few seasons ago)

It might just be that his cycle has ended in Paris, he could also still be recovering from groin surgery, but it has led to many PSG fans to question his commitment.

Himself and Marquinho's have also played the 'I want to leave' card a couple of times now to get a bumper new contract, and that also riles the fans.

Good riddance to him, his agent pointing at Sanchez signing being detrimental to him is also laughable

He’s been given every chance and he hasn’t performed

Before I say anything about Martial I would say this, have a quick look at his appearances for the season. Compare the first 10/15 games to the last 10/15, notice anything about the minutes played?

Sanchez signing isn't much of an excuse for how shíte he was in the matches he played after Sanchez arrived.

    Ha, point rescinded there then.

Didn't get his first full 90 minutes in the league till game 16, only did it once in the first half of the season, did it multiple times in the back half. Only missed three PL games on the bench in the back half too. Doesn't fit the idea he wasn't getting game time post-Sanchez.

In the end Martial hasn't succeeded at United and has had a puss on his face even when he's been occasionally produced the goods.
He seems like a fella who plays the game and has the ability to be a top talent but lacks the love of the game needed to push on to the next level.
It's a pity he wants to leave but it's a bigger pity that he hasn't realized his talent in his time at the club.
Ultimately if he had been at united during Fergie's time I don't think he would have faired much better and it comes down to his own attitude.
He could go on to be the one that got away but he needs an awful lot of guidance to get to that level.

Its almost a trope at this stage, it really is the most common thing you will her regarding whether to keep Martial or not.

He could be a monster somewhere else.
He could go somewhere else and tear the league up.
He could come back to haunt us.
He could go on to be a great player.

Its like some sort of FOMO and I have to say, I think its a terrible reason to keep sticking with underperforming players and a big part of the reason we have so many of them.

If we are going to keep somebody it should be because he is doing well for us, because he is contributing, because he has earned his place. Not because we are scared of looking foolish should he score 30 goals in the French league.

I hope united will only sell him for what they feel he is worth, fûck his agent. If they can’t get a fee that they want I hope they keep him, and if he then kicks up a fuss, throw him to the reserves. Can’t be held to randsom as that will show the club are pushovers and agents will take advantage

The sky sports article has more quotes. Will be sad to see him go but it's understandable for all parties.

Have to be putting a sell on clause in on this sale.

Once we get a big fee for him and get in a proper rw player ill be happy.

Really wanted him to do well and enjoyed watching him play when he was arsed but more often then not he wasnt.

Id be much more worried about this if it was Rashford wanting to leave i think out of both of them he always stood a better chance of becoming a major asset and star for the future at the club.
