Air conditioning/regassing nationwide

Hi folks,

I need to get my air-con refilled, looking for recommendations of places to go in or around Cork City or Fermoy.

If your getting a job done on the ac it's best practice to recover the remaining charge, pressure test the system with oxygen free nitrogen, check for leaks (most probable place is the condenser -from stones) with bubble up spray, then the system needs to be vacuumed, a good vacuum of below 200microns will eliminate any moisture in the system. R134a can then be weighed back into the system the average charge is around 600g.

A temp of 5degC should be achievable from the supply air off the center vents, this would indicate a system in good working order.

It's best then to use the ac all year round to prevent any refrigerant leakage around the compressor shaft seal.

Used this guy out in Park West, top notch job and worked out cheaper than buying a DIY kit in Halfords...

I called to him in February to get the Air Con checked over.
Sound fella in fairness and he had a very nice 7 series in at the time too.

He did mention that the price will be going up allot in the summer due to the price of refrigerant going up too so might be worthwhile getting it done now if anyone is thinking of doing it.

Went to Halfords in Coolock with my 2009 Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 hdi last week. They tried to regas but couldn't and told me the compressor needed to be replaced.

Brought the car to John Kenealy and he tested the pressure no problem. He regassed and put dye into the system to help identify any future leaks. Very nice professional guy. Definitely the man to go to for car air con in Dublin.

Nah never found anywhere.
Athlone too far for me,I may as well drive to Dublin.
Gonna try halfords diy kit.
Have a trade card so may get a discount on it.

If your AC isn't working due to low gas those kits don't have enough in them to get it working. They are 60/70e and won't work. Best of luck

I'm in Athlone too and have been looking for someone to do an ac re-gas. Lots of folks recommending http://www.autoaircon.ie/, but I haven't the time to get out to him at the moment. Wonder if a mobile AC specialist fancies coming to Athlone if we had a few cars needed doing to make it worth their while.

Used Halford kit last year and have cold air since then. I guess this depends how low it is on gas. Wasn't that expensive either and you get 10 euro back when returning empty can.

I went to halford's last week and they topped up the system for €36. Came out and did it in the car park. Would not work if there is a leak as they only text pressure but worked better then I expected.

I think the kit costs about 70€ .
And they did it for €36?

Hi all - perfect time of year for it to happen but I suspect I have a leak in my air con as it's gone from bad to worse with this weather. Any recommendations for a repair & regas in Cork City?

Hi all.

A.C. blows cold air very intermittently.
Most of the time it doesn't but sometimes will.

Could this be a sign of dodgy relay and if so which one and where?
Faulty high pressure switch?
Low pressure? (Saying this as the 2 times it worked this year was when car was left in hot sun all day)

Hi all,

I took my car for a re-gas this evening and the chap doing it said he couldn't because the gauge on the can was telling him there was a pressure warning showing. Can anyone recommend a place in South County Dublin that might check this out for me?

For reference the car is blowing moderately cold air and the fans are operating well but it's just not nearly cold enough. Hope this won't be too expensive of an issue to fix!

I'd be more thinking low pressure, when was it last regassed? Can you hear the A/C engage when you turn it on?
