    Hello,
I'm posting here for a bit of advice please.

I am changing my current car (Audi A4, Year = 2008, 2Litre diesel). On average I cover 14,000 km's a year, mainly short journeys around town.
Due to my low annual mileage, I have been looking at Audi A4 and Volkswagen Passat 1.4 petrol versions.
Has anyone test drove the petrol versions of these cars? If so did you find that the car was underpowered?

    Thanks

I have a 161 A4 1.4 petrol and I find it has plenty of power, for my needs anyway. That engine has 148 bhp (150 PS/110 kW) and the quoted performance is 0-100 KM 8.9 secs or thereabouts.

I get 35 mpg around town approx and 43 mpg on the motorway. Lovely quiet engine - especially with the S tronic transmission.

Unless you'll be mostly carrying a full load or towing a trailer, I'd guess the 1.4 will be a very pleasant surprise performance wise.

I got a 2009 VW Passat 1.4 TSI for my partner and never found it underpowered, a friend in work has the a 2017 Audi A4 1.4 TFSI and really likes it. both cars cover around the same or less distance. Different power delivery to diesel but very nice to drive

My current car returns 37.7 mpg (urban) and 0-60mph of 9.7 secs (according to Autotrader).
I used to cover a longer commute to work before, hence I bought a diesel. My current commute to work is only 6km so looking at petrol options now.
    Thanks for the replies.
