Money Heist was about 6 episodes too long(it’s one story spread over 2 seasons, over 20 episodes in all), but I really enjoyed the first 13! Got massively silly in second part though, and was completely ludicrous by the end.

I'm on episode 11 at the moment. Have to admit, the amount of riding has ramped up in the last few episodes :)
I'm enjoying it so far, not the riding, the show itself.

Agree about Money Heist. I watched the first season over a week and it's taken me three weeks to get through six episodes of the second season.
    So contrived at this point.
I doubt I'd watch the planned third season if it ever happens. I'll finish this season and after that it's Bella Ciao

The first series of 13 reasons was a load of overhyped sh!te anyways I thought. Terrible script at times with some wooden characters stretching the arse out of a poorly executed story.

Sense8 was riddled with the riding and it was so dull. You were just starting to get a bit of an interesting plot going when they'd stop to have a 15 minute orgy with all of the 8 main characters or they'd all stop to talk about their feelings.

Power is the worst for it.
Ride for 15 minutes, kill someone, ride, drug deal, ride, the end.

I watched episode 1 of Money Heist last night, really enjoyed it. I thought, at last, something to sink my teeth into. Now I'm reading it goes downhill. Going mad I am lads. What now?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,752 ✭✭✭johnpatrick81

First 13 are great, but it goes downhill fast on season 2, stick with it though! I finished it out but yeah, faded badly so it did.

It is becoming a common theme with a lot of new shows..

They start off great..then they realise they are on to a good thing for advertising etc, and rip the arse out of it by dragging the show out way past its logical conclusion?

Homeland. But then again to be fair it did recover. Tbh if a show is great then that's an achievement. Not everything is meant to be enjoyed forever. I'd just wish more shows would know when to end. If they don't though I still almost never regret being immersed in the great episodes.

Just watched a few episodes of Staircase,I saw the series on YouTube a few years back and on Netflix there seems to been some editing done, in particular with some of the forensic pieces, minor quibble, but it’s still fascinating

Can I ask a genuine question about The Staircase?

I am thinking of starting this, but I see its 13 episodes. Guts of 10hrs worth of watching involved.

I have heard good reviews of it, but I have been burned in the past with Making a Murderer, which I thought was incredibly slow moving, padded out far too much and kinda boring in the end. I found it a struggle to finish.

So should I start with The Staircase? Is it more of the same? Slow, overly detailed, dragged out?

I'll be honest, if you thought MAM was slow moving, then Staircase will drag you even further down. Its more a warts and all approach, very similar to the "Rough Justice" BBC programmes back in the 80's and 90's in terms of forensic gathering, eyewitness accounts, defence/prosecution side....etc... The Staircase doesnt have flashy production values like MAM has but I think what works with Staircase is the up close and personal accounts of the case which makes it gripping.

It is a slow burner and it might'nt be for everyone but if you stick with it, its well worth watching, its one of the finest crime documentarys ever made...

I think I'm going to pass on it.
10hrs of slow, methodical TV will be the death of me.

Seen the staircase before on YouTube and thought it was excellent

Staircase was quite overrated IMO. If you didnt like Making a Murderer then skip it.

The Jinx was quite good but not on Netflix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,452 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Thanks all, decision made.

The Jinx was excellent, I'd agree with that. And a nice, neat 6 episode show....not filler or fluff.

I watched the staircase before and really enjoyed it but I'm wondering if this version is padded out or is it a few new episodes?
Iv no real interest watching it again so could I watch the last 2 or 3 ?
Is that the new content or has it all been reedited?

I binge watched the two seasons of "Friday Night Dinner" over the weekend. I honestly thought it was absolutely hilarious, a little bit repetitive but in an endearing way. Anyone who enjoyed the Inbetweeners will be a fan. It was an easy watch, and laugh out loud funny.
I must catch up with season 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the Channel 4 player. Annoying that they aren't all on Netflix.

I absolutely love this. The father is one of the best comedic characters I have seen in a long time.

Is it possible to watch season one only or is there a cliffhanger? And does the second season end neatly enough that you could bail out?
