    Hi,
I’ve a 420d gran coupe coming out of warrenty on Jul 1.

What’s people’s experience of the extended bmw warranty, versus the 3rd party ones?

bmw (mondial) is €520 pa for zero excess comprehensive cover.
Carprotect is €440, but is €660 for 2 years, with limit of €2,500 per claim.

I’ve a 5 year service pack, so I’ll keep it for at least another year, probably 2.

    Thanks

I've no direct experience with the BMW one but I can confirm the carprotect insurance policy isn't worth a toss. I definitely wouldn't waste my money on it.

By all accounts the BMW warranty - if you pick the highest level of cover is as close as it gets to a factory warranty.
No messing about. If car needs something it gets it.
Carprotect or mapfre etc are poor.
I recently looked through the Carprotect warranty terms and if I remember rightly, their highest cover excluded items such as electrical connectors. Now if you are having ongoing electrical glitches and many hours diagnosis works are required, they would likely refuse all claim if it was then traced to an electrical connector. Not worth 50 quid per year imo.
