SSD boot problems

My PC won't boot after installing a new SSD. The HDD and SSD are detected at startup but then I get an inaccessible boot device and windows does not load.
When I disconnect the SSD it boots as normal.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is the OS on the SSD or the HDD?

Does it boot from only the SSD (if the OS is on that).

Has the BIOS been changed to include the boot order?

Sometimes you have to change the BIOS mode from or to AHEI i can't remmeber which one. Also it depends on the SSD if its a normal SSD or if its an M.2 ssd. I had a lot of hassle getting my M.2 ssd working.

    Thanks for the responses.
The OS is on the HDD.
The SSD is new, I'm upgrading the PC and never had a SSD on it.
The boot order is HDD 1.

sounds like its detecting the SSD first in the boot order. try changing the boot order,

The HDD is first in the boot order so that doesn't seem to be it.
And it looks like my mb doesn't allow me to change AHCI in BIOS.

Have you tried unplugging the HDD & trying to boot with only the SSD?

Yeah I figured it out in the end. My motherboard has 5 SATA ports but the SSD only works in port 3 for some reason.
