Crow proof peanut feeder ...

Howdy folks,
Can anyone recommend a decent aforementioned feeder.
I got one a few years ago but the wire mesh had rusted with the rain and weakened. I couln't understand how half the nuts were disappearing an hour after i filled it to the brim. On closer inspection i found the feckers had pulled the mesh away from the bottom. You have to hand it to rooks/crows they are so intelligent. Anyways any recommendations to cope with the irish weather?

Does anyone know what are the chances of swallows nesting in the house martin mud style eaves nest?

I was a bit annoyed to see a birch log nest box on sale there for only €12.
I spent about 8 hours carving one out of a birch log a few years ago, my only consolation for all that work being that it was a unique work of art, and nobody else had one :mad:

Not exactly what you asked but: I feed the birds, mainly seeds. Huge issue last year with pigeons emptying the thing in a short space of time. Tried a few MacGyver solutions, none worked. Lots of fancy/expensive solutions online (e.g. spring loaded doors - how long would that last?) but I settled on this

Works well enough - only the more persistent crows/pigeons can get at it. But even those that do eat from it don't stay too long, it's an effort for them to balance. And it was cheap enough that if it didn't work I was not massively out of pocket.

They have the same in a nut feeder

I found that the crows would fly and land on the feeder purposely to knock it sideways and in doing so spill the seed onto the grass even with the more expensive ones so I've totally given up on seed feeders completely.

I feed the pigeons, and if I don't leave out feed for them they raid the hanging feeders.
Since this picture I added a water tray, a fat ball feeder, and soft green foam/wire perches. This cage keeps the pigeons away.

You'd want to be careful with some of these devices that you don't just substitute rats for the pigeons and crows.

I need one of these crow busters as the crows are frightening off all the small birds and I’m sick of them eating all the seeds/peanuts and coconuts.

I created a ball out of 2 metal hanging baskets around a hanging feeder, then cable tied the feeder so if the ball was tipped, the feeder tipped too. Never had any more crows get to the food.. They had their own feeders anyway so weren't going to starve..

I made my own cage that I remove once a day for an hour to feed any of the bigger birds that may be around and hungry.I feed them pinhead porridge and every bird seems like it.
It is not Jackdaw proof as I found out this morning!

I got the nuttery geohaus with the sloped roof and the crows don't go near it. Bit expensive but worth it. Quality product.
