Doesn't matter. No one is going giving a high dose of radiation to someone if there's any element of doubt about their pregnancy status. It has the potential to be catastrophic.
Even more catastrophic if the woman doesn't get treatment.

I would have known if there was a possibility of being pregnant. The assumption being my contraception could have failed and I wouldn't know. My, personal, "contraception" hadn't failed.
TBH it's part of the assumption of heterosexuality rife in the health services.
Having to Come Out time and time again can be tiresome. Particularly when it's to the same people in the same department. But that has nowt to do with this topic.
The point is I was asked and if I had been pregnant I was off the trial.

Did you read the post to the end Pugzilla?

I'm not debating that, I was replying to an angry lesbian who thinks doctors and nurses should take her word for it that she's not pregnant. Any woman of childbearing age (including young teenage girls where it's extremely unlikely, we hope) will get a pregnancy test before being exposed to radiation.

Seriously. You need to take a deep breath.
Your inner issues are showing. As soon you read I am Gay a string of nonsense was generated in your own mind and now you think you know me. I sincerely hope you do not practice medicine with that degree of yours given your frankly homophobic attitude.
Seems it's you who are angry that some women ain't interested in what you are selling.

I was recounting how I was always asked to take a test during a general discussion on how if women are pregnant the 8th kicks in an treatment can be denied. A fact that other posters dispute.

In point of fact the doctors did take my word for it and I never took the test. Actual doctors. With years of experience. And many many degrees.

    Every. Single. Time.

It was just some of the behaviour the fingers up and screaming at the cameras i didnt like, seemed fairly militant like. Reminded me of ANTIFA.

Some of the more tricksy people go the opposing side's rallies specifically to elicit that reaction, film it and use it to portray people as extremist. The pro-life Americans who had a gofundme to come over here had bodycams factored into their budget.

People should know better than to fall for it though.

Ah now, EB, come on. You can't blame every little thing that some people dislike on pro life. Take a look at the Rosa.ie, and the first link with Join the Campaign has young women, coloured hair, shouty faces and whatnot pictured.

Some people don't like it, and that's all they can see.

(I'm not discounting the Retain side playing underhanded, though.)

You'd think the No side would be all for feminazis really. Unlikely to be having abortions when you think about it.

Is Malta the beacon of society? Only other developed country (or assumed since joining EU) in Europe with the same kind restriction; actually it's banned entirely under any circumstance in fact there...their women are too forced out of their own country if they decide to seek a termination.

They only have divorce laws in place since 2011, were we wrong to enact them in 1995?

Saw an article posted on social media about a woman who believes she will have to leave Ireland should a No vote win out...in the comment section below a No supporter said I'll have to leave Ireland if Yes wins...the response underneath was along the lines of...where will you go? Nicaragua,El Salvador,Chile perhaps? :pac:

I'm just saying it's a possibility. Those girls in that video immediately and strongly reacted to that camera, their demeanour changed. I've been to rallies and I've seen the tricks. ICBR and their international counterparts absolutely provoke people to film them. I've seen the video of the blonde guy asking questions and there were shenanigans there too.

There'll always be obstreperous young wans too though :pac:

I've used and written that word so much in the last few days, it never looks right now.

Genuinely a great word, and no matter what the outcome from the referendum, we've all expanded our vocabulary.

Don't know why everyone is so triggered. I originally replied to someone who thought pregnancy tests before procedures were being performed due to the eight amendment. This is done in every country, regardless of abortion legality.

They (some of them) get triggered when you don't come out and say you are a yes voter and preferably vilify no voters. I thought when I started posting here that I was honestly misunderstood over simple things but your eyes get opened.

Here in Ireland it started 4 or 5 weeks ago.

You better hope the No side can't find all the infinity stones before the referendum, otherwise half of the femnazis will be erased from existence with a single click of John Waters' fingers.

I'd like to ask a few questions, if I may, and have it answered by people on both side of the debate, as it's something I'm still confused about and I've never seen adequately answered in the debates.

If a woman is pregnant and develops cancer, or has cancer and then gets pregnant, what exactly is in the wording of the 8th Amendment that prevents her getting treatment? As I understand it, the 8th Amendment guarantees equal right to life of mother and baby. But surely denying treatment to a pregnant woman denies her her half to that equality as it is putting the baby ahead of her, instead of equal to her. I presume I'm massively misunderstanding something as if this is the case, then surely the denying of treatment would have been taken to court long ago and a precedent being set allowing treatment for the mother?

Related to the above, why does an abortion have to happen for treatment to take place? Why not give the treatment and let the baby take their chance that they'll be affected by it or not. Best case scenario, both mother and baby will survive both the cancer and the pregnancy?
