I'd doubt Cavanagh really has an agenda against Mayo to be fair. He has 3 All Ireland medals in his back pocket, it's hardly as if Mayo teams have tormented him over the years now

he's entitled to his views. As always there's only one way to prove people wrong.

It wont happen. Mayo will look at Dublin. Dublin were in trouble with him early on. Then, they double marked him and mostly curtailed him after that. Mayo will double mark him from the start. The question is who they will get to do this....They could spring a surprise and revert to the McLoughlin sweeper system to achieve it.

Yeah I mean it's hardly as if they won't actually have a plan for Comer. "Go on there Ger and we'll see what happens"

People still take selected 15's too literally, the days of teams lining out orthodox 15 on 15 is long gone

O'Shea? Did a good job on Donaghy.

In fairness that was solely to stop Donaghy doing damage in the air. Comer will be much more ubiquitous around the park

It seemed a daft prospect back then though, so you could never rule it out in fairness!

I'd imagine you'd need someone to get out in front of him and also to stop the right ball going into him in the first place, sp Parsons might be busy. He's hard to stop when he has the ball the damage is nearly done at that stage.

    Is Harrison definitely out ?

Yeah could be similar to how they managed Michael Murphy in 2015

He's fit but has very little match fitness. I'd personally be surprised to see him start

Might not be a bad call. Frees up a slot to bring Doherty in as well. However, I think O'Shea would have a big advantage over Bradshaw if he started at 11.

    Mayo 4-20 Leitrim 1-08.

Our next game is against Roscommon on Friday 11th May.

The result of that round 2 championship game, Roscommon 4-12 Mayo 0-11

Aidan O'Shea will not be marking Comer, not a chance. Putting him on Donaghy was purely to curb the aerial threat of a player that had caused Mayo so many problems in the past, and it actually worked well enough as it had a surprise element to it at the time.

Comer is too quick and mobile to be man-marked by AO'S. Stopping the ball getting him to him is the key because as Stoner mentioned he is very hard to stop once he has it. If Mayo get on top around the middle, which is very possible, Comer may be starved of ball and forced to roam out the field which will suit Mayo just fine.

Mayo had better get on top around the middle in that case !

We're doing absolutely nothing at underage people.

This should be a real worry.

    Absolutely beautiful morning here.

Regional forecast for tomorrow is looking equally promising.

A bright day with sunny spells. It will stay mostly dry but some isolated showers will develop during the afternoon and evening.

I'm buzzing for this game man. Mayo Vs Galway is going to be a battle.

I'm going for Galway. They have beaten Mayo the last 3 times they have met. Stephen Rochford hasn't been able to put a team together to beat Galway since he took over the job. Galway seem to be a team on the rise, coming off the back of an impressive league campaign which included a win over Mayo. Mayo on the other hand narrowly avoided relegation by scraping a draw against a depleted Donegal.

I wouldn't look at the league as a way to try and predict tomorrow's outcome. The last few years for Mayo has just been about survival. That will have to be addressed as we can't just keep pulling the rabbit out of the hat on the last day. We left it within 30 seconds against Dongeal.

But I do see fatigue in this Mayo team. I think it's going to become a big problem for us in the next two years. Trying to get replacements for Andy, Zippy, Boyle, Clarke isn't going to fair well. Them lads are irreplaceable. Eoin O'Donoghue starting tomorrow is a good thing but it's not enough. Barrett, Harrison and Keegan are also big losses to the backline - the latter two might still play a part granted but Keegan would be a big loss to any team.

As for the last two meetings, Mayo should have won that game in Salthill last year and that was with 14 men, so they will want to put that right. They also know the route to the quarters is going to be very tough if they lose. There should be plenty of motivation for us.

Galway are on the up though and this could be the year that they finally come through and win some games in Croke Park. There's no doubt that the league has boosted their confidence and they were looking good against Dublin for long spells in that league final - that will only bring them on. But I still think Mayo are still too street smart for them.

My only concern is our home form. We've seen a lot of sub-par performances from us in McHale Park in recent times. We got away with it against Derry last year. I've never seen our shooting that abysmal. The year before saw us trail by six points at half-time to Fermanagh. That kind of display simply won't be good enough tomorrow. But I do expect a more open game. We need Cillian O'Connor back to form and influencing things. We could also really do with Diarmuid O'Connor and Conor Loftus starting to make a real mark on the scoreboard in these kind of games. Andy Moran can't do it all.

I'm going for a four point win for us tomorrow but it's going to be tough. I just have a feeling our experience will see us through. I get the feeling I won't be saying that next year though. If there is a big decline in this Mayo team, you'll see in the next few weeks but I don't think you'll see it just yet. This is the most interesting Mayo/Galway game we've had for a while - buzzing for it now!

The big day is finally here!

Does anyone know if you can enter the terrace with a stand ticket? I've done it before, but only during league games

Huge rumours doing the rounds about the composition of the subs bench after last night's round of Michael Walsh games. Could be interesting.

Very interesting, who going to lose out?

James is very promising young footballer, some engine on him.I think he's only played FBD this year?

I had heard Cian Hanley was a long way off from being ready.Rochford is obviously giving youth it's chance.

    At Brannigan is'nt starting.

With all the hype in relation to the game I think it may be well not be the free flowing contest we would hope for but rather a quite cynical, physical contest not dissimilar to the league contest.

There may be an element of nastiness to it.Hope I'm wrong.

It is vital we keep our discipline,Keith Higgins red card cost us the contest last year.
