Brutal. Making it about herself as usual and murdering her acting. Bad as Fair City

For people who might have gone through it recently so they aree not just sitting down waiting for a dose of escapism and then be dumped on them. Or other who may have there kids around. Not everyone is like you and kind just cope with it.

Even I who do not watch soaps went to watch it just to see how they were going to handle it was hit hard because I have known people who have committed suicide

Yep. It will still have a positive impact regardless, but they also had a responsibility to minimise any negative impact, so telling folk about it in advance is part of that.

You're entitled to your opinion on it. I'm entitled to mine. They dealt with the death of Holly in Emmerdale in a quiet way, I don't recall it being on later than the usual 7pm. That was a heroine overdose. I would have liked Aidans story to have been done like that. Viewing wise for me it would have made a bigger impact

You are entitled to your opinion yes, as are we all, but at the end of the day, for the producers of Coronation Street thankfully they won't have chosen what to do based on people's opinions but based on much evidence by suicide researchers, and in consultation with the Samaritans and CALM. The producers have already well explained why they have done this, and have certainly acted responsibly in their duty of care towards viewers.

There is BIG difference between heroin overdose and suicide. Drugs have been done thousands of times on every soap If you think that people not knowing would have made people think less or not have a harrowing impact then you are mistaken

Just like the range of reactions on the show, it's undrestandable that there'll be a range of reactions here. So many people just don't understand the complexities of suicide.

I'm just saying how I would have preferred it. I'm not saying on your behalf or anyone else's.

Kate Oates said she wanted it to come out of the blue. She wanted it to reflect the real.life experience of not seeing it coming. As a viewer, I would have liked to not see it coming. Just commenting as a viewer nothing more.

The green ribbons for suicide awareness week are in all rail stations and boots chemists stores this week. There is no charge for them.

An unexpected death was the comparison. It was so well done. I may be mistaken in what you think, but I know what I would have liked and that's the only opinion I'm expressing. I don't expect the producers to cater just for me, nor am I asking them to. Just making a comment on how I would have preferred to not know before hand.

I never commented on the complexities of suicide. Just gave my opinion on not wanting to see it coming :)

He played a blinder too. It was lovely to see himself and Shona pleasant with each other!

Jack P Shepherd is an amazing actor. He had me in bits during that scene where Kylie died and again tonight.

Yep. To end on that note with David, was a very wise and powerful move for viewers who may be feeling suicidal or close to it.

The worst performance by far tonight was Maria, and that’s saying a lot because all of them were brilliant!
