No but I'd echo your sentiments.

    Perhaps next year!

Mayo News reporting Zippy is almost certain to be unavailable for the Mayo hurlers Christy Ring Cup match v Wicklow in Aughrim.

Was there last time. Went for a week, had been in NY once before so had done all the tourist stuff - so it was pretty much a drinking session.

The Sunday was great craic. It's a bit surreal to be heading down Manhattan seeing loads of Mayo tops. Great day all around. Very similar to Ruslip in that regard.

If you've never been to New York before then definitely go if you can - you'll have a great time.

Thinking of going again next year but this time starting in Washington and visiting some cities along that route before making the trip to New York on the weekend of the game.

Mayo dual star facing championship dilemma.

Yikes I really think we'll need Zippy on board.

You absolutely do need him. Galway players' balls aren't going to knee themselves.

Can anyone confirm how things work if it’s a draw after extra time on Sunday?

For some reason I had it in my head it goes to a free kick competition this season. But reading Philip Jordan’s column on the RTE News Now app he says the following: “I wouldn’t even be surprised if two periods of extra-time failed to separate the teams (2 x 10 minute halves followed by two further halves of five minutes each if the sides are still deadlocked) and they have to do it all over again in Salthill.”

When would a replay be played? Galway could have Ed in at Full Forward.

    Jordan has it right afaik.

    This is correct
Free kick contests are in for qualifiers and CLUB provincial championships
Extra time and replay for intercounty

So what was all that malarkey over speeding the year up, by cutting down on all the replays? I thought replays were reserverd for provinical finals and AI finals now, no?

Yes but all these extra games going to extra time first in theory will help reduce number of replays

We could be there until Monday with extra-extra-extra-extra-extra time. Wonder would dial-a-delivery bring pizza to McHale park.
Martin Carney better have plenty of tea-bags! :D

Eh, not over my head thanks. I'd prefer to see the game. Hope the officials have the sense not to allow that up inside the ground.

It would be on display before the game and maybe at half-time.

    Where exactly?

No way will the health and safety boffins allow something that big into the ground in the first place and then let it be unfurled. Not when Dubs on the Hil were told they couldn't bring their (much smaller) flag into games anymore.

I know this was discussed lately but can someone tell me what the current caapacity of McHale Park is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,457 ✭✭✭✭km79

Very strong team names and plenty in reserve too

    1. David Clarke - Ballina Stephenites
    2. Eoin O’Donoghue - Belmullet
    3. Ger Cafferkey - Ballina Stephenites
    4. Keith Higgins - Ballyhaunis
    5. Patrick Durcan - Castlebar Mitchels
    6. Colm Boyle - Davitts
    7. Stephen Coen - Hollymount/Carramore
    8. Seamus O'Shea - Breaffy
    9. Tom Parsons - Charlestown
    10. Kevin McLoughlin - Knockmore
    11. Aidan O’Shea - Breaffy
    12. Diarmuid O’Connor - Ballintubber
    13. Conor Loftus - Crossmolina Deel Rovers
    14. Cillian O’Connor - Ballintubber(Captain)
    15. Andy Moran - Ballaghaderreen

It mightn't be to everyone's taste but I actually agree with the Cafferkey call if he does start (this team does look like it's a legit one though)

For once we have to hit a Championship all guns blazing and I think we'll need all the experience we can get.

The alternatives are Caolan Crowe who has never started a championship game, and Harrison, vaughan and barrett are likely nowhere near full match fitness for a high-octane match like this

Very fair team overall for me. I would expect Coen to hold the middle and Boyler to wing. I can see Higgins sitting in front of, or even directly marking, Comer

Galway team named. Would be inclined to hold out till 4 on Sunday to wait and see with that one though. Tom Flynn and Armstrong look dubious inclusions

Kerin is included and brannigan misses out, however.

Sean kelly extremely unlucky. GOD, Bradshaw and Sweeney wouldn't strike fear in any half forward line
